On April 30, 2019, I celebrated my 10th Sparkversary. I did start out at 183.7 lbs in 2009 and am presently 151.1 lbs. I am struggling to go below 150 and to continue on this journey. At times, I am less motivated but on the whole, it is going the way I wish "slowly but surely". Over the years, Spark People has helped me with the following:

- I have become more aware of the importance of eating well and leaving junk food out of my diet.
- Exercise has become a routine for me.
- The need to sleep a minimum of seven to eight hours a night.
- The importance of staying active online because I am positive that I would have regained my weight if I had not continued on SP.
- The importance of food tracking on a daily basis.
- Soft drinks are no longer drunk in the household.
- Desserts are made for guests only and we don't miss it.
etc. (the list goes on)

Like many of you, I have had ups and downs over the course of this journey. I am presently overweight as per the BMI scale and I will continue my journey to reach my healthy weight.

The truth is that with the weight that I 'have' lost, I have found my self-esteem again and my willingness to continue this struggle. I even look forward to going out more and dressing up again because I can actually look better in the clothes that I have. That is a nice feeling... Truly, I will not go upwards again as I know what that feels like. Yes, with the weight on, I could still do a lot but my cholesterol was high and my BMI was on the obese side -- who's kidding who here?

Last September, I reached my 70th birthday and never did envision myself being a heavy senior citizen. Looking at my December 2008 picture beside, it was obvious to me that it was time that I got myself moving again and by doing so, it has proven to be beneficial all-round.

My Goals:
My goal is to lose the excess weight I have accumulated and get my BMI and cholesterol to healthier levels. I want to be a role model for my daughters and grand-children.

My Program:
I am watching and marking down EVERYTHING that I eat. I am exercising on a regular basis. Initially, I had scheduled one day off and now I find myself doing something on that day too!!!

Personal Information:
Originally from Canada, I have resided in West Africa since 1975 (during my entire adult life). I do get a chance to go and visit my family frequently but miss them a lot. Thanks to FaceTime, MagicJack, Viber, Skype, I can communicate even more now with everybody.

Other Information:
One of my favorite saying is: "We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do". Mother Teresa

Thank you so much for the Daisy Day wishes. I had a wonderful day working out in the pasture and making burn pits. Tomorrow will be the same. Lord willing! LOL

I really liked your helpful hints to the "Determined Daisies" for the holidays. Remembering when eating that it is not the "last supper" is a good reminder and also that the actual holidays are a few days, not the whole season. emoticon

Thank you so much Lise, for the birthday wishes. I realized I hadn't updated that thread until last week and also saw that someone shared the same birthday as me. My husband and I also celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary October 26th. We went to see the musical "Come from Away" last night as a gift to ourselves. It was good, the true story of what happened when 38 planes that was 7000 people and 19 animals from around the world landed in a small town of7000 people, in Gander Newfoundland on 9/11.
I wonder how your packing is getting along and what is your moving date.? Lots of emotions for the move I am sure. Take care moving is stressful. Judy. emoticon
