In August 2009, at the age of 44, I reached an all time low. Upon the heels of my marriage dissolving, I weighed 211 pounds. At my annual physical, I was put on 5 different medications. After a heart to heart with my doctor, I realized it was time for me to take back control of my life and make some serious changes. I eliminated sugar, gluten and caffeine and began walking daily. By February, 2010, I'd lost 55 pounds...I was also enjoying doing Yoga, Zumba, rebounding, and lifting free weights. I felt and looked better than ever and was even able to get off of 3 of my meds. I successfully kept the weight off until about a year ago. My knees began causing me trouble and lifting my son (who is quadriplegic) became a struggle. I was unable to keep up my fitness program and my dedication to my purist diet waned. Thankfully, with time and rest my knees got better. However, I wound up 30 pounds heavier. Needless to say, I am very excited to have found Spark People, and now feel motivated to reach (and ultimately maintain) my goal weight.
