Me and my GANG!

Monday, April 21, 2008

I have completed my very 1st 5K on Saturday. It was amazing. I had my 2 daughters, daughters boyfriend Kevin and a family friend (Shannon) to do this with me. We were a team and we came in 2 place as a team. I will definitely train for the next one I do because I was starting to think that I needed an oxygen tank and I'm sure I wasn't breathing correctly. My 9 year old swore she would have asthma by the time she finished. I did the jog/walk thing. I was quickly left by Kevin who finished with a time of 37:20 he was ready to run. I finished with a time of 43:16 the baby who doesn't have asthma had a time of 43:23 what a trooper. Kayla and Shannon came in at 52:11. I couldn't believe the feeling it gave me to do such a race. I almost cried crossing the finish line it was awesome. I'm glad I got to do this with my daughters. Who would have ever thought I would do a 5K and want to do another one. Oh, yeah I do. Like I said I'll train this time. My legs hurt so bad. I really feel great about this and now my husband would like to do one too. Maybe in Sept.

Wow! That truly is awesome. It is so wonderful that you were able to compete with your family! I know that with the strong support of your family that you will keep training hard and keep moving forward. I am confident that in the next race you will do even better.

AWESOME job Sweetie! You look AMAZING also!! A 5K is 3 miles correct? I may be willing to do one in the future, I don't keep up with the "races" but I am willing to try!

    You are Fabulous!

Congrats on your first 5K! Your family is beautiful! I am doing my first 5K on May 18, so am curious how others are holding up. I now know I should consider an oxygen tank! Like you, my family is participating, my son, daughter and husband. I want to be able to run the whole thing but it doesn't look like I'll be up to speed by then. Reading your post reminds me that I need to be happy that I'm participating with people I love and that finishing whether it's running, walking or crawling, is a goal to be proud of. Congrats again and enjoy that great feeling!
