My Mirrors......a poem

Friday, May 02, 2008

I wrote this poem. It's about a journey. Changes that we will go through. Emotions that we meet along the way.......It's about becoming our own best friend.

My Mirrors

There I was, standing in my mirror,
Not knowing the face that was drenched in tears.
The furrowed brow, the painful look,
Her sobbing body convulsed and shook.

I looked up and so did she.
She said she wanted to talk to me.
"Please don't leave, I'll be your friend,
Someone to love you and help you mend."

"Hold my hand and come with me,
I'll take you where you need to be.
To the land of mirrors, with many faces,
Each of you during different phases."

"I'm the first mirror that you've met,
I am Shock, Discontent comes next.
Sad, and Depressed are soon to follow
Desire stays with you for many tomorrows."

"You'll soon meet us all, but it must be in sequence.
Kind of like hurdling a series of fences.
The mirror you will seek is Sliver of Hope,
Your face will light up and you'll finally meet Cope."

"Fear will likely mess with your head,
Even worse than that mirror is the one we call Dread.
Don't glance in those mirrors for very long,
Look ahead, there's Courage, *POOF* they're gone."

"Obession's the one that is hardest to beat.
Shatter that mirror! Don't take defeat!
Patience will be your kindest friend,
It'll stay with you until the end."

"In every mirror, you'll see YOUR reflection.
The last one you meet will be Resurrection.
The Dead and Numb state that you have been feeling,
Will be overcome by a great sense of Healing."
