I am SO READY TO DO THIS!

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

I have to toot my own horn here. Its cold, down right frigid outside. I not only ran outside but I just ran 4 miles in 45 minutes(if my calculation is correct)...that would be a 11 minute mile for me, that would mean on Saturday when I run the 5k I could very well possibly beat the goal I have set for myself of 35 minutes. I did notice that my checkpoints that I have set for myself (where I take my walking break and check the heart rate) once I got to the checkpoints I realized I wasn't ready to stop. I slowed down enough to look at my heart rate and I was in a good range still high 150's- mid 160's. My hardest block of running was at the 2.5 mile to about 2.75 mile range. My legs wanted to give out and I was running face in the wind as well. As i was coming to my checkpoint in that block I decided to finish it off strong so I busted rear the last 4 or 5 mailboxes to the yield sign, and heart rate at that point was in the low 170's. My maximum HR is suppose to be 157 to 160...just slightly over the maximum range. I CAN NOT wait until Saturday to run this 5k!! the only thing that worries me with it, there are hills...my sub has very few hills and you really can't call them hills...incline in the road is more like it, still though I'm so ready to do this!!

I am so thankful for my friend Rosa who talked me into getting back out there with doing the first 5k as a walking race. I knew at that time I was ready when I was doing that walk I wanted to run so badly. She talked me into doing the 5k the day after Thanksgiving---which by the way i thought she was crazy for doing the day AFTER Thanksgiving but I signed up for it anyways...not only is it the day after Thanksgiving but its the end of November--November in MICHIGAN--HELLO?>???? doesn't she know its cold out there????!! but I said okay I'll do it for you. I went and bought my winter running gear, new running shoes and have been getting my rear end out there running in the cold. The winter gear works awesome..better than awesome. Its 22 degrees out right now and I was warm other than my ears...which I'm going tomorrow for that $20.00 ear-head thing...ridiculous on the prices of the running stuff but the one I have makes my head and ears itch. But anyways....I signed up for another race that is THIS Saturday the 22nd. so,so, so excited!!
