Proteins and Carbs

I am trying to improve my metabolism through Dr. Schwarbein's Programm.
In it, it says that if you have too many proteins, it will not allow you to sleep as soundly.
Yesterday, I ate more proteins than carbs and although I took my calcium before bed, I did sleep lighter. I also found it easier to get up in the morning.
Now, the question is.... how does this affect my energy level through the day and durring my walk tonight?
