The Easy Way....

Friday, March 13, 2009

Yes, I had WLS Surgery, and I am so proud of myself for doing it. I love that I am healthier now than I have been my entire teen and adult life! But, I just can't stand it when people say I took the "easy way out" or someone tells me they are "Losing weight the hard way" . Hello People - contrary to what you believe, this has been the hardest thing I have ever done. I had my insides rearranged, I damn near died from a liver leak, fought my way through some complications early out, I have no choice but to eat a healthy diet, I MUST exercise. I can't even put into words what hard is... hard is not sticking to a meal plan for 2 weeks and reverting back to old habits which is what a diet always was to me. I could stick to diets for months on end, lose 20 - 40 lbs at a time.. then it always came back. Now I have a tool that prevents me from making the same mistakes I made over and over and over again. So.. the easy way - definitely not the path I took. Would I do it again - in a hear beat! I would have done it sooner had I been more informed! I'm healthier and happier than I have ever been, so you size 0's that believe all someone overweight has to do is eat less and exercise more.... sometimes.. it's just not the case... sometimes... things aren't as they seem. Sometimes people do what they have to to make their lives better. That's what I did.
