How committed to myself am I?

Monday, March 23, 2009

It's spring break and I'm loving sleeping in, although I don't suppose sleeping until 5:30 really qualifies as sleeping in, in most people's books.

I've been working out over my lunch hour in the school's weight room for the past two months, and although I have a key to the room, I'm already starting to talk myself out of going there this week. I really need to go, though, not only because I need it physically, but also because I need to know inside myself that I am committed to improving my lifestyle, even when it isn't convenient.

My evil twin keeps whispering that all I need to do is to work out at home, but my good twin knows better. It really isn't the same. I'll let you know which twin is victorious.

Good for you! The whole point is, you're committed to working out. And you've decided that if you don't do it at home, you're going to go do it elsewhere, but no matter what, you're going to do it SOMEWHERE!!! Woo hoo!

I have that evil twin in my head as well. Unfortunately, she does win at times. I think I need an exorcist to be rid of her. emoticon

I hope your good twin won! Are you off all week?

Glad to know someone else has an evil twin. On those days I always push her out of the way because on those days, I know when I go I always feel better physically and mentally. I make her sit in the back seat on the way home!

Hi, I'm new to this and thought I would send you my support. I have been walking for 4 weeks and at first gained TWO pounds, but I lost it but, I also have lost inches though I didn't keep track. I feel great what I find that helps is I tell myself I need to get to work by 7:20 to log in 2 miles and I need to do 2 miles at lunch after I eat. I try to keep reasons for doing it instead of not. Like telling myself "I have to go to bed at 8:pm to get 8 hours of sleep. Don't think of it as something you dread but instead of something on your to do list. It's all a state of mind, you know!

Good to hear from you. I always imagine that you have met your goal and are on your way to size 2. haha

I used to exercise at school and we finally got together a group of about 15 of whom, 6 or 7 would show up each exercise time. I think it was twice or three times a week. Professional dieters know what to do and how to exercise so those so inclined would be the group exercise leaders. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed getting together. Strangely enough it wasn't any certain "group" but people from all over the building, including the principal who had juvenile diabetes. We even ended up having some yoga days, etc.

Maybe you could get a friend or two to join you. Everybody is thinking about swimsuit weather now whether or not they ever go swimming. emoticon
