surgery's over

My poor baby, simply went in for new tubes in his ears and remove his adenoids that had grown back. While I was waiting, I was asked to sign a consent for a tonsilectomy also. Bless his heart, he just had tonsils and adenoids out Dec 2007, and now, in the OR, it's discovered that they have grown back. I consented. 15 minutes in the recovery room, he was rushed to the OR again for an arterial bleeder. The second time took much longer than the first time, needless to say, I was scared to death. They cauterized and suctioned all the blood out of his stomach. When I got to him, they were battling his blood pressure. Apparantly is was very elevated and concerning to them, he was admitted. The second day, throat much better, blood pressure still a bit elevated but much more controlled when suddenly, he had an allergic reaction to God knows what. More meds :( Took him home last night and he woke up this morning covered in hives. Benadryl cleared it up, but it didn't do much for my heartattack :)

I'm sad to say, thoughout this 3 day ordeal, I've managed to put on about 6 pounds. Yes, I'm an emotional eater. I'm hoping that most of it is water weight from eating chips and other garbage from the machines. I plan to work very hard this weekend to get rid of it. I've really disappointed myself as I thought I was, by now, much stronger than that. Apparantly not.

Thank you all for all your love, support and prayers for my son.

Love and Hugs,

I'm glad to hear your son is home emoticon

I know its an especially tough ordeal when you're sitting and waiting in the hospital. Don't fret over it. You had a bump in the road (it's not like this is going to happen weekly/monthly/etc) so learn from it (next time walk the stairs instead of munching) and you'll be fine in the long run.

Life happens. That's just the way it is. You're on a life journey, so just go with the flow and don't worry about the weight. Now you can concentrate on you again.
