New commitment

Monday, June 01, 2009

Since I got back from the spa, I've been a little lazy. This weekend, though, I really got it back together. Here's my plan:

1) Put away the scale for a month. The fact that my scale didn't show any movement when I got home from TFS really messed with my head. I so much wanted to break my plateau that I started pigging out when I didn't. I also realized that, in my head, this halfway point of weight is relatively OK with me, because it's a point where I was for a number of years. So I'm eating just enough extra to keep me there. Putting away the scale takes those head games out of play.

2) Really ramp up the exercise this summer. Over the weekend, I started working with my Wii EA Active game. It's an excellent workout and is pushing my strength training in new directions. Tonight after work I'm going to go to a spinning class--we'll see how that goes. If I like it, I'll go every Monday night. I've also committed to going to a lunchtime yoga class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And my Wii team is starting a new challenge soon, and I'll participate in that. That should keep me busy.

3) Eat lots of fresh, whole foods and increase veggie consumption. Right now, I'm getting my 5-a-day in primarily with fruit.

4) No eating after 8 pm, unless I'm actually HUNGRY, not just mouth-hungry. In that case, make sure protein is involved. I've really had a problem with nighttime munchies throwing me way off track lately.

Marie...seeing in print what you've written will help you, you could copy it and print it out for a daily reminder.
Exercise (of which I also guilty of not doing 110%) is such important part of this journey...we know this, but knowing and doing...sometimes doesn't happen.
Congratulations on making a new commitment!!!

I hate the nighttime munchies! They are the hardest thing about dieting to me.

I've started just accepting that I'm going to eat after the kids to go bed. I just go ahead and plan for it now. Leaving a couple of hundred calories for it.

I've found that a cup of hot tea is also filling enough to hold off the night time trips to the pantry. Last night a cup of tea and one cookie was enough to satisfy.
