Our Great Adventure

Sunday, June 21, 2009

My Daughter works at Magic Mountain. She has been working long hours, and asked if my Hubby could drive me up there, so I could drive her home, she was really tired. Off we go, with two of our dogs in the back seat. Sarge, my Germ Shep/Ridgeback mix, and Alice a Cocker Span/Black Lab mix, Daddy's girl. We got to Magic Mountain early, so we put the dogs on leashes, and walked around the outskirts of the parking lot. (right by rolling hills, that was fenced off)..First Sarge heard something, then Alice. I didn't hear a thing, so I figured it was a rabbit running around in the tall grass. We walked backed the other way, then I saw a good sized Coyote. It was a ways from us, but close enough to hear us. It was so curious when he saw Sarge. So the Coyote just sat down, and watched us for the longest time. Sarge, and Alice spotted the Coyote as well. Then I spotted a Raccoon. It wasn't shy at all, it was right next to the fence, and Sarge kept pulling on the leash. He had never seen one of those before. So the Raccoon decided he better go the other way. And while all of this was going on, two Barn Owls were flying around looking for food. We had a ball watching all of the beautiful animals. Apparently Sarge did too. When I put him back into the car, he gave me a kiss on my hand, and on my face. Telling me "thank you". I was so glad we took our dogs, and we all had a great adventure!

Cool! We live near some nature preserves-we have had Florida Panthers and Bears sited in our neighborhood-that is scary. We think we saw the Panther a couple weeks ago, slinking into some weeds as we turned into our Community entrance-it was big enough! Plus, the neighbors say they have seen it go behind our house. We back up to acres of woods and next to a pond...so it is possible. Couldn't believe this could happen in Central FL!! Thanks for sharing...Connie emoticon

    EXCELLENT outing!
I had breakfast on a beach with a campstove. I watched a seaplane, a guy kayaking, sailboat, a barge and possibly a submarine coming up for an air change. I never would have seen those kind of vehicles in the middle of the continent.
Also at the beach, 3 seagulls, one heron and dogs with their owners.
Don't ya love it when the dogs get affectionate. They show how simple saying Thank You can be!

I love to see nature, and I bet it was just so neat for Sarge too!

Must be that kind of week! At the gym where my sister and I go we saw a deer up close the one day and an eastern cougar the next day. Needless to say when we spotted the cougar...we got in the car!

Wow! what an experience! I would hazard a guess that not many could claim to have the same contact with nature in one short outing as you did. What a memory!!!
