Facing New Challenges

Sunday, July 05, 2009

I have been thinking about the progress I have made since I join 07/13/2008. I can been very proud that I am consistent with the exercise. I am getting stronger and can jog more than I ever have before. The weight has not come off as I had hope for. Depsite the changes I have made with the exception to not eating .

(more water, consuming less calories, eating more fruits and veggies, adding fiber and eating smaller potions)

I am approaching my one year anniversary on Spark people.

I have connected with some people. I still find that the web approach to support is not enough for me. When I initially joined I thought that I could get what I needed.
With that being said, I may lessen my time on the site in search of the plan program that will best suit my person needs. That is what I will be doing for the month of July checking other options .
So if you don't see me around you will know in advance why.

If anyone shares similar thoughts or feeling let me know. I welcome feedback constructive and/or positive.

I understand your reason for branching out to other forms of motivation. I also find it hard to stay motivated when you don't actually have your encouraging buddies right there with you. I am just getting back here because I have been down with asthmatic bronchitis. I Went to the ER because I couldn't breathe right. I am on my second round of antibiotics. Good news, I haven't gained back the 14 lbs. that I lost with SP!!!

It has been a slow process, but better than nothing for now. Hopefully you will find what you need to reach your goals. I am going to give this a go again & see if I can lose some weight again. I also am working with my family at walking more & we are, as a family, making healthier food choices.

When you check in again, I hope to tell you that I have lost another 6 lbs. to make it a total of 20 lbs.

Well I'm for one have been inspired by your encouragement as a leader and as "friend." You will be missed on the boards. At the same time I do understand where you are coming from. Sometimes I feel in order for this site to really work, there has to be a keyboard strapped to my fingers at all times. Don' t get me started on the spark points. lol!! So, I'm sure you will find something that will fit your needs!! Don't forget us, stop by and say hi!!!! I would love it if you stay in contact and let me know how you are doing. emoticon

I have to agree that the feedback we get is minimal if at all and I have been with SP for only about 6 wks, trying 2 teams now. I really like the vision of our team but not the rate of participation or leadership. For that reason, I may look for additional supportive teams too. But I am enjoying the friendship of the friends, whenever they surface. A side point: SP itself is what got me going and I have lost 15 pounds now, in six weeks. BUT, I also started working out with a trainer at the 24 hr gym in my town at the same time I joined SP. I have to say that it is expensive to do that but I was paying to go to Weight Watchers ($12 a week X 52?) every week for a year and wasn't losing because it was old stuff for me and I needed some inside-out changes, physically. The trainer is getting results--good results. And his philosphy is the same as SP, very balanced. It has become obvious that strength training and cardio both have to be a regular part of my routine, along with healthy eating (are you incorporating strength training?). At the age of over 50, my metabolism has gone into first gear--very slow. That means I have to work at it harder, much harder. My husband just joined SP and has now lost 5 lbs, (he is stoked!). Really in the end, it's ourselves that make it happen, that's why I like SP. Regardless of what team you are on, it's a way to keep tabs on yourself and appreciate and document what you are doing. I would be glad to share with you or anyone what we have been eating and doing for exercise, as recommended by my trainer, which seems to be working...If you go, we will miss you
