Hey everyone, this is my first blog regarding my weight loss.
Today was a pretty good day eating-wise. Unfortunately I didn't get to eat breakfast upon waking up, because I had to wake up really early to get to an appointment for food stamps. Yay for food stamps, I can get free fruit and vegetables from the farmer's market! However, my boyfriend and I only get $88 a month. It's difficult being a student! I kept teasing my boyfriend and telling him that we're on welfare now, but I'm not going to let it get to me, you gotta do what you gotta do when you're paying for college, right?

My boyfriend asked me what I wanted for lunch today, and he suggested pizza. Hell no! I hate to make his choices limited, so I said that we could eat at seperate places. He never likes doing that, so he suggested Subway. I haven't really had the desire to eat at Subway since I had an incident involving getting the stomach flu and eating a Subway salad. Let me tell you, it doesn't taste that great on the way up. Yuck! TMI! Anyway, I've spent the past six months or so avoiding Subway like slugs avoid salt. Pretty recently I swallowed my pride and decided to give Subway another go. Because I'm a vegetarian, the selection is somewhat limited. I came to the conclusion that I was causing the selection to be limited! That's right, I have been eating the same old Veggie Delight on honey oat with extra pickles and tomatoes for years! I went out on a limb-- believe you me, I was scared-- how could I not be? Not only was I eating at Subway for the first time in months, I was actually trying something that I had previously avoided. The Gardenburger sub. Disgusting? My sentiments exactly. Regardless, I ordered it, toasted, on parmesan oregano with American cheese (the least caloric cheese on the menu), with extra onions and tomatoes. Instead of mayonnaise and mustard, I got Southwest sauce (true, it's a cream sauce, but I figured it would help to wean me off mayonnaise). It was DELICIOUS! Now all I crave is Subway. I want to go back for dinner. The melted cheesiness mixed with the warm Gardenburger goodness is to die for. Thank heavens I have a new healthy choice of restaurant to put on the list of places to eat again.

Later on, my sister invited me to lunch (her lunch, not mine) and she got a piece of cheese pizza and a caesar salad. I was really tempted by the chocolate brownie, but I didn't get it. Instead I got a Tazo Berry tea with ice, and before I left, I grabbed one of their free chocolate covered mints to satisfy my cravings. Success!

Yesterday I had a really delicious dinner. I ate two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, not just ordinary PB & J, but ones made with natural peanut butter (with added Omega-3's) and low sugar Smuckers strawberry jam. If you haven't tried the low sugar jam, I highly recommend it, it is more delicious than any full sugar jam I've tried. I was skeptical too, but this stuff tastes like real, fresh fruit! The taste is not clouded over by being overly sweet. This wasn't the lowest calorie of dinners, but it was healthy.

As for activities, I was going to go on a bike ride with my sister three miles from her house to the college campus, but her bike was broken and I forgot about my appointment that was at the same time! Oops! Oh well, I'm getting my elliptical machine delivered to me on Thursday. I can't wait! Plus, all my searching on craigslist.org finally paid off, I managed to get the elliptical for $20! I hope that it ends up being of good use to me.
