I have never had luck with pedometers. I could never measure my stride and I would count my steps and it wouldn't be the count measured. I really wanted to join the groups for 10000 steps/day, so I decided to break down and buy Leslie Sansone's DVD/pedometer on Friday. To my surprise, the pedometer needs to be on your waist, parallel to the ground and right over your knee in the front. I had always put it on my hip or in my pocket. No wonder I had no success. I still have not measured stride, but I am only striving for 10000 steps. Also, I didn't like the first DVD that I bought of Leslie's, mostly due to expectation. I thought it was a walking DVD that would only require walking, but she has many exercises reminiscent of aerobics of the 70s. I decided to give the new DVD a try since it came with the pedometer and I was lacking in the 10000 steps. I was pleasantly surprised by this DVD. She is alone, so it is a different feel for me. I don't really like looking at so many "perfect" bodies doing each exercise perfectly. It gives me a complex. Bad thing for my motivation! This DVD is for 3 miles. I thought it was easy enough for me, but challenging enough to get my heart rate up. I went over 10000 steps on Saturday! Woohoo! Then, on Sunday, I did the DVD again and again, I went over 10000 steps on Sunday! I have the pedometer on right now and I am motivated to do some walking during the day today since I sit on my fitness ball all day at work, attached to the computer. I need to take a lunch break for myself, SO not me!
