Dry cleaners and Lemons? Laughter is good medicine!
Sunday, July 26, 2009
”He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy” (Job 8:21, TLB).
Are you like a dry-clean only item? Starched? Stiff? Confined inside a stuffy bag? Embarrassed by a little wear and tear or wrinkles? Stuck hanging out in the back of a dark and musty closet?
Or perhaps you look like you’ve been sucking on some sour lemons? Your lips are puckered, your brows are crunched and your eyes are squinted? I bet you didn’t think dry cleaners and lemons had anything in common? Taking life to seriously can do that to you.
Smile! Have some fun! Because it takes more muscles to frown!
"He turned my sorrow into joy!" wrote the psalmist. "He took away my clothes of mourning and gave me gay and festive garments" (Psalm 30:11-12, TLB). God loves laughter, its music to His ears!
Prayer Pause: Lord, as the words of Psalm 30:11-12 say, I ask that You turn my sorrow into joy. Take away my clothes of mourning and give me gay and festive garments. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine." How I need more of this divine prescription that You have provided to heal my grieving heart!
Remember: Live every moment, laugh every day, love beyond words!
