Lost more weight and saw the doctor

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Got down to 185.9 this morning. That was surprising.

I finally went in and saw a doctor- A new one. I didn't care for her, she wasn't pleasant or friendly but she did order a bunch of tests so maybe I can find out some things. She also explained something very interesting to me. When I have been eating at work, I go from low blood sugar to a fast beating heart and feeling weird. She said it was a reactive sugar or something and it was caused by the carbs I'd been eating at lunch. Pretzels, crackers, bagels, oatmeal- too many bad carbs. She said to eat complex carbs like whole grain and brown rice. She also said to eat protein not carbs for food at work. That's why it doesn't happen at home, we eat mostly meat at dinners! So that complication might go away with some tweeking of the diet which is great!

I will be getting the labs done tomorrow and will hopefully know something by Monday.

i had something like that while i was pregnant and they sent me in for a blood glucose test which came up perfectly fine....wether i passed that test or not though i didnt care...everytime i ate to much sugar or to many carbs without fail i would get a racing heart, flushed face, sweats, and feel faint...the worst was the day i had a mcdonalds big mac meal with an iced tea... sheesh!! i almost blacked out! in the end i just chose to stay away from it on my own because i knew it was causing problems wether it showed up on a test or not....good luck!

All right! Checking in with the pros can make such a difference. Yeah, complex carbs!

    Good luck with those tests!
Low carb diets have gotten a bad rep for some reason but the fact is that many of us can't handle all the carbs we eat (and especially those bad ones). I started following high protein/low carb eating plans (one should always tweak things to fit you) and I can't tell you the difference it's made! Try to start with what the doctor suggested and add protein to all your meals and snacks (it also keeps to fuller for longer)

I hope they can figure out what's going on.
I know it's hard not knowing!
