The Wii Fit said I'm still Obese!

Thursday, August 20, 2009

Hello Spark Buddies,

I got on my Wii Fit today after being absent from it for over 60 days. I was kind of skeptic emoticon about getting on it because it would always "say" hurtful things to me emoticon For example, when i was over 220lbs, it would say "oh" emoticon every time i stepped on it, as if i was hurting it emoticon However, when i stepped on it today, it said emoticon So that made me feel good emoticon

Next, it was time for me to do the stability test and i passed it at 70% for being well-centered emoticon

Finally, it was time for me to update my weight emoticon which is the part i hate the most! I was scared emoticon that the Wii would show a different weight that was higher emoticon than the scale i weighed in on Monday (200lbs). To my surprise emoticon the Wii calculated me as weighing three and a half pounds less (196.5). However, it still yelled at me and said i was "Obese"
emoticon

I really felt good with all of the readings from the Wii system. Although it still calculated my BMI as being in the "Obese" range, it did move emoticon a couple of notches and my weight decreased emoticon by 19 lbs emoticon All of this was done within 68 days of me being absent from it.

If it wasn't for SparkPeople's website and it's motivating members, I don't think I would have lost those 19lbs alone. I know I have a long way to go to reach my goal, but for now I'm overwhelmed of the progress I've made so far. I would like to tell the staff and my motivating SparkBuddies emoticon for all your help and encouragement emoticon

In no way am i discouraging anyone not to get the Wii Fit. In my opinion it is a great machine for those who want to lose weight and for those who want to play games or have family fun.

This blog is intended to be hilarious and motivating, not discouraging. For those who i have offended, i apologize. And i know it's just a machine that yells at a healthy, overweight, or obese person, lolol. It yelled at my daughter and she weighs 102 lbs, lolol.

You know, I love playing on my sister's wii fit. I think it is a great tool too. BUT, that first time, when my little person ballooned up right in front of my eyes? OUCH! lol

Congrats on your loss. I can't wait until I have some extra funds to splurge on a Wii system. I plan to get one by Christmas.

How funny! I can't believe the Wii fit yells at you. This sounds like fun, though. We had a Wii and gave it to my Mom. I should buy her Wii fit so I can go over and play with it!

We all have to do something to keep us motivated. Keep doing the Wii, at least you get a laugh. We all should laugh at how serious we take a game. Having fun while you lose weight is a great way to get where you want to. Keep up the good work!

You're doing spectacular! Luckily, I wasn't standing in front of the Wii fit because me and that machine would have been arguing, lol.

I'm glad that Sparkpeople is working out in your favor. You deserve the absolute best and it's beautiful to read that you lost weight thus far. Keep up the great work.

Regardless if that machine says you're still obese, this stuff doesn't happen overnight so take it in stride and shine baby! -Latoya

Ok, first of all, the Wii says, "Oh!" to many of my skinny friends! Second of all, it's only a machine. It calculates your height and weight. That's it. It doesn't see you, it can't understand your progress, and it is not judging you. I hate that music and then "THAT'S OBESE!" getting yelled across the room. I always yell back, "OMG, I'm FAT? WHAT? NO WAY! I WEAR A SIZE ONE!" It makes me giggle a bit and then I can keep going... Keep up your progress - you're inspiring!

Congratulations on your loss! I don't have a wii yet, but I'm thinking I may wait a while... especially if it's going to yell at me or act as if I'm "hurting" the scale, lol.
