Happy Sept.

Tuesday, September 01, 2009

I can't believe it Sept....
where has the time gone.

I have 8 pounds to reach my goal of 145 pounds,
I've been doing some thinking and wonder what you all think.....
Once I reach 145 should I reset my goal to 130?
Back in 2006 when I started this journey I never dreamed I would loose this much weight. I thought if I could just loose 20 pounds I'd be delighted.....well with determination and Spark People and of course all my friends I have lost a whole lot more than that...

I just picked a number out of the air at 145, it was what I weighed when I started the 10th grade. I have read don't set your self up for unrealistic goals, you will never weigh what you did in High School, but what if you weighted 250 pounds when I graduated...I'm 100 pounds lighter already,
Do you understand what I'm trying to figure out, what if you been over weight most of your life, how do you decide???
I'd appreciate any comment or thoughts you have on this subject.

I'm hoping to be 145 to start the New Year....am I unrealistic to try for 130 pounds, for the next year goal?

Thanks and Happy September

Kitt.....

How tall are you Kitt? I agree with one of the other posts...ask your Doc or google a "healthy" weight chart. You have done an AMAZING job and I think you look FANTASTIC right now!

Happy to have you as a spark friend!

    Kitt,
You are truely amazing. You seem to be dropping weight again each and every week. I think you should be whatever weight you are happiest. Get to your goal weight and then decide from there. If you want to be less set small goals and attain. I can not wait to get to where you are.

    Kitt,
Wherever your head and your body decide to land . . .
I started at 297 and at 182, doing the same thing I've been doing for the last almost 2 years, I'm still losing weight. At first, I wanted to lose 137 pounds to put me at 160 (and no longer obese by the charts), that is 10 lbs less than I weighed in high school. Now, I'm thinking that after that, I'll just keep doing my process and when I stop losing, is where I should be? Want to get my waist measurement under 35 inches for sure.
    Guess it's just personal . . .

    Kitt,
    You are amazing!!

My only input would be this. What does your doctor say?

I hope to have this same dilemma next year around this time.

    God bless you,

Hey Kitt. You're doing great. I say stick to a weight you can maintain.

Kitt, you need to find the weight where you feel good, where your body feels good, and that you can maintain. It's not always about the number.

When I lost all my weight that one time, I got down to around 170-175 and looked like a concentration camp survivor. I'm sure it's because of how I lost it (doctor-supervised liquid protein diet; lost 175 lbs or so in a year and will never do it that way again). I was aiming for 150 at that point, and don't believe it would have been healthy for me to go lower than I did. Plus, I had all that excess skin that probably made up the difference.

I'd love to be 130-140 for the number's sake. My sis looks skinny and she's at 150...so it's all relative. For my sake, I plan to stop around 170 because that's something I think I can maintain. Once I get there I might learn differently, but I can't determine that a the moment.

So...you need to see how you feel once you reach your goal. If you feel you can go lower and it seems like the right thing to do, you will do it. If you feel good where you are and it's a good weight to maintain, that's what you should do. Don't let the number itself take over the focus on what you're doing. Numbers are sometimes as evil as the scales are. lol!!

Kitt, you have done so well!! I, too, cannot imagine what it might be like!

I would have to agree with DIFROMWYOMING. When you reach 145, if you still feel like there is more to lose - go for it! Maybe you could ask your doctor what they think?

You are a great inspiration to me and many other sparkers!

I honestly have no frame of reference to even comprehend this...it's so far out there still. But I really believe there is a weight our bodies are comfortable with...and it isn't just a number off a chart. If you reach your original goal and feel that you are not done, move forward. You'll know when you get there. And you can do whatever you want!
