Odd Walk

Thursday, August 10, 2006

So I went out yesterday as soon as I got home and went on my walk. I did a nice 50 min walk at a brisk pace. I am coming to the realization that I may need to get some new tennis shoes, mine are about 2 years old and last night my feet and legs were hurting on my walk. I also managed to pick up another small dog hitchiker and this time it was just me. I decided not to take the girls with me as it was too hot and they already pant pretty hard just in the yard. So for the last mile this other dog decides she would like to join me. I just kept walking and at first a few of her buddies were walking with us but then they dwindled the further and further from home we got. Not this little girl, she was determined to follow me. On the last little stretch to my house she starts slowing down and then my MILs dogs decided to come and check her out. Poor thing, I could tell she was scared, confused, because she didnt recognize where she was, and tired. I got in my car, still had the dog cage in it, and pulled up to her. She was such a trusting little thing. I called her over and she came up to me and I petted her belly and sides to be sure she would be ok with me touching her there. She didnt want to get into the car by herself, so after testing the waters so to speak, I picked her up and hoisted her in the back. I drove her all the way back home and then opened the back hatch to let her out. She hopped out, looked around and went and layed down in the yard. I could tell she was glad to be home. I hoped back in my car and prayed she wouldnt chase me back down the road, thankfully she didnt. I really wish the owners would take better care of their dogs, poor thing she was eat up with fleas, had a BUNCH of flea dander under her collar. I felt so bad, I could have easily just taken her in and fixed her up and kept her as my own, she was just too cute. Not too sure how my huskies would have liked me bringing her home but at least I would know she was being looked after. (sighs, cant save them all)
