Back to work tomorrow...mean's 5:30 am wake up call from that dreaded alarm clock. Once I'm up, I'm up though just getting out of bed..that's the killer. Can't wait to see all my new preschoolers. Hopefully we don't have too many tears tomorrow morning, always do though tears and then there's the runners who love to bolt for the door after mommy or daddy. Should be an interesting morning. I will get to see my wonderful 5 yr old nephew everyday though. He is attending school where I do my 2nd job as the playground supervisor...everyday yay! that I'm really looking forward to. I think Brenda would be thankful for that as well... I miss her so much.

I have also decided that my first 1/2 is just not going to happen this year. I tried running again my knee hurts very early on. I think I'm calling the sports doc tomorrow and getting another appointment set up. I really think part of my disappointment over not doing this first 1/2 is because this race is almost 1 yr to the day of my last conversation with my sister in law. She is the one that told me to get back out there and just do it. That was Oct. 7th 2008. This 1/2 is Oct. 4th. I really wanted to mark the anniversary of her death with me doing this 1/2 marathon. I can't believe we are coming up on 1 yr already.

You know - I was just going to see how your knee was doing. I'm sorry to read that things aren't going well. Why can't our bodies just do what we want?!?! I love the suggestion of volunteering at the race. At least you'll be out there, even if you're not OUT there.

I'm glad you made the decision to not go for the half right now even though it's what you really wanted to do. Your sister probably would have told you to hold off on it too (I'm guessing). You are doing a very smart thing by listening to your knee. It will be interesting to hear what the sports doctor has to say.

It sounds like you need to see a doctor and figure out the best thing to do for your knee. It must be very disappointing not to do the half as a memorial to your sil. Take care of yourself.

What a blessing to see your nephew every day during this school year. I bet that will make getting out of bed a little easier. :)

I haven't heard anything about your niece in a while. Is she still living with her father or has your brother been able to bring her back home? Are you getting to see her very often? I hope your whole family is doing all right as your near the one-year anniversary of Brenda's passing. I'm so sorry, again, for your loss.

I understand your "need" to mark the anniversary in some meaningful and constructive way, but I agree with SPECBEARCA that you don't need to put yourself in a position for a very serious injury. She also had some wonderful ideas about helping at the 1/2 marathon. If those are things that would help you, why not give it a try? Let me know what the doctor says. Take care of yourself. :)

Sorry to hear you might not be able to do your half, glad to hear you're not being too stubborn and getting hurt. I know how miffed I would be if my body decided it wouldn't be cooperating with the rest of me!
Maybe you could still mark the day by volunteering for the race, or is there even a kids race you could do with your nephew? (I know I don't have to tell you this, but you know she's proud of you for doing your 10 mile anyway!

Glad you're going to see the doc about your knww. It's been going on too long now. Hope it isn;t anything too serious, tho!

My daughter was one of those who would follow me down the hallway, crying & screaming and being pulled back by the teacher or hall monitor! Actually, this is the first she HASN'T done it(and she's now in 3rd grade!)

    Good luck tomorrow!
