Setting and Meeting Goals

Friday, October 09, 2009

It poured all day long yesterday and today is starting the same. It is one soggy mess out there and this in October - our driest month!! Unreal!!

I may have a MRSA lesion. It's that time of year for me. It usually returns in Fall. Hopefully it will be contained. So far it was just in the itchy stage and was smaller this morning. Probably another nasty surprise from the reaction to the vaccine.

I met my short term goal yesterday. I got all my bills together and got them paid.

I then worked on getting rid of some more newspaper messes. I tend to allow newspapers to collect. One of my goals will be to stop feeling that I need to read every article in the paper. Barack Obama is not going to be ask for my opinion on how to proceed with the war in Afghanistan so I really don't need to peruse every utterance posted about it. Read the headline - move on. My goal is to read at least one newspaper a day and throw it away. 2 if possible. Yesterday I scanned and threw away several. This is a goal I want to make permanent.

I also did some decluttering in a small area in my bedroom. 15 minutes of decluttering a day will be a goal too. A permanent goal.

Another goal is to cut out one of my snacks a day as I am consuming too many calories in snacks. Permanent.

I'm planning on fine tuning my strength training program too. Today I will do some research on core exercises.

We've had more rain in Austell. Luckily, no roads closed.
    Sorry about your MRSA!
I've stopped taking the paper. Didn't want to have a moral obligation to read it.I just look at bits of the NYT, The Financial Times, etc online. Unfortunately, I still have magazines to get around to.Keep inspiring us to declutter.

All good goals! I'm going to join you in a number of them. We don't get the paper ( the only one here is junk) but I noticed the other day ( when all teh renewal notices came in) that I have about 6 months of magizines (unread) in a pile by my chair. Humm, there is only one I make sure I get through each month, so I'll renew that one, but cut the rest. I can always reup next year when I'm caught up!
And we're not even going into clutter! *grin*

We sang "rain, rain, go away...come again some other day" at circle time today! It sure is soggy and chilly here in the northern part of Illinois too. Yuck! I just want to live in my pajamas and fuzzy robe. Sorry to hear about your mrsa issue. I didn't know it could be a recurring thing. Poor dear...hope it remains a minor problem. Take good care!

Now I am just feeling guilty. You are making all this progress and my lists are still growing. And I think there is nothing wrong with reading the papers and being well informed. There are too many of us as is that have checked out.

I finally called and got my newspaper subscription down to a Sunday only delivery. I sit and drink my coffee, read everything I want to, then toss it as soon as I stand up.

Thanks for your posts on my Sparkpage. I really do appreciate your incite.

Yes...again with the rain. My children even commented - asking if it was ever going to stop raining. I assured them that God promised it would stop :) I'm hoping for sooner rather than later!

Your de-cluttering is coming along well. I need to get on it and do some myself, but its going to have to wait for Thanksgiving break - classes have me hopping.
    Have a lovely Friday!

I love your comments on the newspaper. We used to have home delivery but then I felt obligated to read it. Now with so much news on TV I never look at a newspaper. I listen to too much news on TV, it's depressing...You're doing great on your goals, always trying to improve things..I wish you success with decluttering. It takes a load off you mentally. I need to do more but I got rid of a lot this spring. I gave to freecycle and let someone else get the use from it... emoticon

This rain is driving me nuts! I can't wait for it to stop! Sounds like you have been getting a lot done in the house. It's nice to be done with stuff and relax without feeling guilty.

I love the 15min decluttering idea. I'm going to steal that one! I need a goal to take one bag of newspapers to the recycling bin every day when I pick the kids up from school. Ours just pile up all around here.

Hope the MRSA lesion doesn't get too out-of-control. I assume you have medication to treat it?

    Have an AMAZING day!

Sounds like a great plan. The 15 minutes of decluttering sounds like a great thing to do.
