Boot Camp Lesson
Thursday, October 15, 2009
Last night I ran a light mile before the boot camp class. That was fine. I was also planning on doing another 2 light miles after boot camp but that did not happen. Boot camp consists of two minutes of one or two strength exercises followed by a lap around the track and then on to the next station for another 2 min of strength. This repeats for the whole hour. I was in a group that had been doing this a long time and they are good runners so I ran with them for the 1st half of boot camp. This was a mistake after doing my tempo run the day before. My leg started to get a little sore and was very tight so for the rest of the class I ran lightly between groups - which was much better. After boot camp the trainers stick around to do about a half hour of stretching. After that I walked slowly for about a half mile - did some more stretching and then hit the foam roller. That seemed to work and loosen up my muscles and I am feeling much better today. Since my tempo runs and speed runs are scheduled for the day before boot camp I will keep this in mind and do light running during boot camp and not care if I can keep up with the others.
