End of DST blues

Tuesday, November 03, 2009

Today I decided to go to town and do my errands and grocery shopping. I went to visit with my hubby on his lunch hour first. I then paid the water bill, and went to the newspaper office, the bank, Aldis, Walmart, and Kroger. I got home in time to put the things away and fix supper.

Hubby gets home at 5 and he and I went for a walk at 5:25. It was so dark we could hardly see. I hate the end of Daylight Savings Time. The chinchillas are confused because their schedule is off. I'm confused too. LOL. My appetite is in overdrive. I need more sleep.

Part of me wishes we would just stay one way or the other.

I know I hate the end of December when it starts getting dark @ 4:30.

I once read a great quote that points out, in tribal communities, that the "darker days" were used for crafting (versus, I suppose, hunting and exploration). It sounded like a much nicer way to spend the winter months!

I know what you mean about DST ending. By the time my hubby gets home, it is so dark I can rarely fir in a run. I just feel weird running by myself in the dark. I'm sure we will all adjust in due time. Time to clear out the treadmill...Have an AMAZING day!

I agree with all of you. Ugh!!! I wonder if the furbabies would be on their regular natural time if living in the open? I mean, if they are beloved pets, (which they are in this case), I can understand how confused they would be if their momma, (that's Mortica), gets up earlier than what they normally do. Poor babies, and poor momma!

As for me, I am gonna get a cuppa joe with my hot skim milk in it, and then catch a few more zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's! emoticon emoticon

I hope the adjustment is a quick one - but you got SO much done nevertheless. i'm impressed. My schedule is constantly rotating with DH's work schedule. He was on a very early morning job, then one week off, and this one where he doesn't leave until 2:30 pm and gets home at 1:00 am .. unless there is overtime and he gets home at 3am! So I'm all jacked up.

I don't like the fall time change either, but I'm sure we'll all feel better by the weekend. Hang in there!

I agree, I hate it getting dark so early. Don't much like it getting light so early either. I wake up too early emoticon I've been getting up between 6 and 7 and that's too early, I'm retired for gosh sakes! I should be lolling in bed later! Glad you were able to have lunch with your husband...that was nice!

Oooo, Morticia, I am so sorry you are having trouble with the time change. I love this time change! The one in the spring makes me crazy! Give your chinchillas a hug for me. Hope they adjust quickly, too. Take care.

Winter's darkness is upon us! But who knew the poor chinchillas would be confused with the time change? It seems many of us are struggling with this stuff. I'd like to think that spring is just around the corner, but I'm not prone to buying Florida swampland...and my surname isn't Poppins... - Susan

Me too! I keep promising myself that next time I'm going to take a couple of days off to adjust without work.
Might just do it this next one, that one's even worse for me.

I was walking in the dark with you. But for me it's the first time I've walked/run in awhile so it was nice to run again. I've walked a few times in the past month but not run.

Son is confused to. Keeps going to bed easily or early. That is unheard of for him.

Glad you got to have lunch with hubs!!

Yep. I'm hungry, too, but I thought that was triggered by Halloween treats, not the change in time. As for the dark, you need to get yourself a head-mounted lamp. Its standard redneck attire.

Exercising makes more sense in the morning these days. But then you gotta contend with the cold!
