OMG!!! How long will I feel this way

I did something I haven't done in a looooonnnnggggg time today. In fact I will say it has been 10 years since I last did it. It felt good at times, then stressed, then good in the end. What did I do?? I walked. I walked for 30 minutes.

My co worker and I walked the CNN centers parking deck today at lunch. I walked for 30 minutes...30 minutes. I have been a member of Sparkpeople for a couple of months now and I follow little tid bits of info at times.

Here's the thing. I went to the doctor last week and he told me I had Bronchitis. He also recommended that I have a physical. I did and my bloodwork was not good. I am very close to being diabetic. In fact he said he would catagorize me as a diabetic, but I can do something about it. If i act now I will not have to utilize insulin.

He gave me this diet plan to follow. I am basically eating white meat turkey, chicken and fish. I can have vegetables and small amounts of certain fruits.

As you know this weekend was Halloween. I don't celebrate it but I did buy candy for my son and to hand out to kids in the neighborhood. Well, my son is only 2 and there were no trick or treaters on my block.

What happened to the candy? I ate some of it...not all of it. WHo am I hurting? Myself and cheating my son out of the possibility of having a healthy Mom to be there for him.

I have decided that I am going to follow thru with this diet for 30 days as the doctor recommended, and also I am going to start to get active and move around. I know the burning in my legs will not be that way in a few weeks. But for now I guess I'll just sit back and enjoy the burn.

    I like that..sit back and enjoy the burn! Yes, stay active, walk, lift dumb bells, just move.....I was on diabetes and cholesterol meds for years....one year after joining Spark, NO MORE MEDS!!! NONE!!!!

    Blood work was my wake up call as well. I lost a lot of weight after that but I'm still not where I want to be. Exercise is great so I bet in a few months you will love it and will feel cheated on the days you do not get to exercise. Hmm, I think some of my kids' Halloween candy is missing and the wrappers are in my trash. We all have our weaknesses but if I only give in once a year I think I'll be okay. Just do what I do and put the mistakes behind you. Good luck to you!
