Obesity is a condition

Sunday, November 08, 2009

I am reading and working the book called "100 Days of weight loss: By Linda Spangle. the info I'm going to share is from that book.
Today is Day 91, it's called "Obesity is a condition"
She give some real common sense information but some that you might not have thought about...
obesity is a condition just like diabetes..a diabetic can't leave town and proclaim to take a vacation from insulin..you can't ignore the condition of obesity, once you have it your stuck..
even after you reach your goal weight, you are never finished..no matter how consistent you are, with your eating and your exercise efforts, you will be vulnerable to gain your weight back...
Don't let this scare you..it is completely possible to maintain your weight successfully. But you have to take care of your condition every day, in spite of vacation, holidays or life challenges.

if this concept feels uncomfortable, think about it terms of accepting you have a condition..you might have feelings of anger and or frustration..it is not easy to think this will be with you for the rest of your life but. if you are like me , you have lost weight before only to gain it back and even more....so as much as we don't want to accept it...we must or we will be on the with loss roller coaster for the rest of our lives...

So start by thinking each day what will I do to manage my condition..
I'm going to start a new journal to write down what I'm going to do, for me it seems if I write it down, it seems to mean more, I can go back and read and reread and fine tune....
wow this is a something I know about in my brain but not fully in my mind and soul...
but I know I have to if I'm to remain healthy and happy.

Something for us to think about.

Have a healthy week

Kitt, that is so true. I had never looked at it quite that way before. Like most of us, I have lost weight in the past, only to gain it, because I never adopted the lifestyle to manage my 'condition'. I swear that THIS time will be different!

Thanks so much for sharing that with us!

    Thanks for sharing this.
Food for thought. So many times I have lost
50 just to put it back on, with the thought in my mind
that weight is like a disease a condition maybe I can
successfully remove the weight and keep it off.
Sounds like a good book for me.

Wow, I needed to read this blog Kitt. It is so true. As I look back over my life, the moment I stopped thinking I had a "condition" it came upon me with full gale force winds. I know you know that. So, thanks for sharing this blog. I also liked the day that said "Act as if"... that was perfect for me!
    Take care,

Thanks for sharing this, Kitt. I have not read that book yet...have it for when I feel like it. You're right, however. This is someting we'll deal with for the rest of our lives. And we can deal with it successfully if we're totally honest with ourselves and stay the course.

You are so right, Kitt! It is a condition most of us have lived with all our lives so far and will continue to work with the rest of our lives! That's a great way to think about it!

    Thanks for sharing!
