What Is My Intention?

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

I've been using Jillian Michaels' videos for a while now, but I just used Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism for the first time last night. It was quite an experience! But, you know what? I got through it and I only modified a little and skipped one exercise because of a heel problem. Several times during the circuits, she talks about your intention. I'm a big believer in setting your intentions and about the third or fourth time she said "Focus your intention," it clicked. If I really want this, if I really mean it and I want my life to be different, I need to purpose in my heart and mind to achieve it. This is a commitment to myself for myself. For me it's not about looking "hot" to please someone else. It's about being the most vibrant, healthy me I can be. I pushed past my self-doubt and fear of injury. I really listened to her and I found I was able to do moves I never would have believed I could do. She's right; I am stronger and far more capable than I ever would have imagined.

So, here's my intention. I intend to succeed at this. I intend to be someone whose story others can look at for encouragement. I intend to be strong and healthy and fit. No more "phoning it it" as Jillian puts it. I intend to make "me time" a priority every day for the rest of my life. And I intend to prove to my doctor that being menopausal does not automatically mean I have to accept having a chubby upper stomach.

So, what do you say? What's your intention? emoticon

Great blog entry, RJ! Isn't it good to realize the importance of living an intentional life? Life gets gone whether we accomplish our goals or not. It's a sign of true maturity to choose to live each day with purpose -- to consider what is truly important and worthy of our energy. I'm working on this in my own life. Your words are an inspiration to me.

I think this is awesome!! It's very easy to say "I wish to do this" or "I hope to do that". But to have real, true, honest intentions gives you the purpose you need to succeed, because it gives you a solid game plan to map out. I know I deal much better when things are written out in front of me, instead of just ideas floating around in my mind. My commitment becomes stronger because I'm fulfilling my intentions.

Great post RJ! You CAN and WILL and ARE going to succeed!!!

Right on! One of my yoga instructors has us choose an intention for the day's practice, and I find it very helpful throughout the day as well. And I'm right with you on the business of the stomach -- what is all that garbage about, that the drs give us? emoticon
