The Day of Rest

Saturday, November 14, 2009

Some naysayers, (yes, confirmed doubters), were waiting to see if if I really rested yesterday. The answer is........................ yes.........................so
rt of. LOL.

No, I did not hang upside down like a smelly sloth while green moss grew on my stinky fur and fruit flies swarmed around my filth ridden torso....................... But I didn't do any extra work yesterday either. (Sorry sloths but the words that natives use to describe you are "sleep'", "eat", and "dirty".) I fixed 3 meals, spot cleaned the pet cages, swept the floor, did my decluttering, took out the compost, fed the wildlife, ran the dishwasher, did a load of laundry, burned the trash, and picked up the mail. I also watched some TV and wasted time on my computer.

My brother called yesterday and my dad, who has been in 3 different hospitals continuously for the past 2 months, was transferred to a nursing home. It's not what any of us wanted but it is the only choice. And the good thing about it is that Dad will be less than 55 miles from where I live and I'm familiar with the rural area and feel comfortable driving there. There are decent restaurants in the area and good shopping.

Today we went and got our H1N1 vaccines. Our arms felt like they would fall off and my hubby felt sick for a while but we are glad to have it over.

Hubby cleaned out the firepit and started to winterize the boat. We went to a couple of hikes but we were tired.

    Rest! hahahahahahaha
Your day of rest is hilarious!
Even though we all hate the nursing home scene, it is great that your dad will be within driving distance.

Glad you are rested up for the week ahead. Hope it's a great one for you!

You? Rest?? I don't think the two words have ever fit together in the same sentence! So glad to hear that your dad won't be all that far away, and in what sound like pleasant surroundings. I know that must feel reassuring for you. Sounds like you're all "winterized" in your lovely surroundings and as ready as possible to face the winter ahead. I'm glad you got your H1N1 shots and hope your husband's over those side effects!

I am glad that your dad is close enough that you are able to visit with him and not several hours away. I love being busy. I, too, am going through closests and cupboards and decluttering some each day. One day it will all be done!!!!

I am also glad that you had a chance to watch some tv and just rest! That's always good to have a balance in life as in all things!!!! Have a great weekend!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

It does not surprise me that you would never have a sloth-like day!...lol

Glad that you did not take on any extra work!

What good news about your father's location. I know his health has been one of your major stress's lately so having him closer and in a full care facility should help ease your worries.

Wow sounds like you got so much done! That tends to happen though. When your busy all the time, off days turn into clean the house days.

You sure do work a lot when you rest! LOL Having a loved one in a nursing home is never good, but at least he will be close and you can keep an eye on him and make sure his is well cared for.
I've been wanting a fire pit. We probably won't get one anytime soon, we have to get some outdoor furniture first, emoticon but it is definitely on my list for the future.

It's official. Your definition of rest differs from the definition the rest of us lazy mortals would consider fitting.
