100 Days of Weight Loss

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

I finished my 100 Days of weight loss book today...
an interesting thing I read went like this"No matter how long you stay on your diet or maintenance plan, food will always look good.. You will never be completely free of the temptation to eat when you feel stressed, or upset or lonely or any other reason you turn to food, for nurturing and solace."
I did not write word for word but you get the idea, ...her idea is to write yourself a sign or note and put it on the fridge, pantry cupboards or where you keep food that says "IT'S NOT IN THERE" food can't give you what you need or want....

one of the most powerful statements I found way back that really turned me around was this
"FOOD SOLVES NO ISSUE BUT HUNGER"......I had to read and reread that statement, then it was OMG that's right, not a cheese burger, 10 pounds of chocolate, or any food is going to make me feel loved , or wanted or needed....those things can't make you healthy, be active, help me live longer, make me the skinner sister, help me look better in my clothes, ......

It has taken me time and great soul searching to realize that food is not my best friend, it doesn't calm my nerves, it doesn't solve relationship issues, money problems..
so whats the secret have to find different ways of coping....

I make lists, list like what to do instead of's a slow processes and it take trail and error to find what might work for you...but it can be done.....

in another blog i made a list of the things I do when I want to eat but not really hungry.....
the best tip is phone a friend or spark a friend get some way to express how your feeling...keeping a journal is great too....find a way to get in touch with your true , or real know sometimes you say you are upset because your out of bread, but the real issue is your husband doesn't talk with you, you are feeling lonely or the kids have grown up and don't need you as much or any of a zillion's the deep down fears and emotions we have to get too...any way I'm rambling here...

just needed to share my thoughts as I finish that book, learned lots of reason why I use food .
I know it will always be a struggle and I'm so happy that Spark friends are here when ever I need them.....
I'm here too for anyone who needs a friend, I don't have the answers but I'm a good listener.

emoticon on finishing the book Kitt. I am sooo far behind you and I started ahead of you. I take 2 or 3 days to read and reread a lesson. Sometimes I like to start the day with a lesson and sometimes I end the day that way. Today I learned something and I know now a little more about why I eat. I'm glad you enjoyed the book.

I love this blog, Kitt. Thanks for reminding us that food will always be food - and it's NEVER the answer, unless we're "just" hungry.

I really needed to read this today, Kitt. I've been on maintenance for 3 years and I still am having to be conscious of every bite I put in my mouth. It used to discourage me, but since I found SparkPeople and met so many wonderful friends who share in my same struggles, I don't feel that same discouragement. I feel empowered and better about doing what it takes to keep myself healthy. Thanks Kitt!
