I'm stuck...

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

I was so excited to see the scale drop to 202 a couple weeks ago, and then it got down to 200 last week! Now it's stuck on 200 and it's frustrating!

I've been doing cardio every day.
I've done strength training 5 times this week (no area 2 days in a row).
I've been staying in my calorie range.

The only thing I haven't been doing as well is with chocolate. Since I've started on SP I've always made an allotment in my daily calories for a little bit of chocolate. Lately that little bit has turned into more. That means less healthy food and more chocolate to stay within calories. I do just fine during the day. I portion my meals and know that is enough food and I'm past the hump of eating extra just because it tastes good. Why can't I seem to do that with chocolate? I find myself relaxing after the kids go to bed with that one piece of Halloween candy, which turns to 2, then 3. Instead of staying on the low end of my calorie range, I fill it to the top with the chocolate.

I think I need to take advantage of Thanksgiving this year as a time to give up chocolate. My whole family is getting together and I have a nephew that is allergic to milk. This means the odds of there being chocolate are pretty slim. Maybe the long weekend without it will be enough to get me over the hump. I'm hoping that will also help me get past the 200s and get firmly into the 190s!

It sure is easy to get side tracked with our favorite treats. I used to be an ice cream or frozen yogurt every night kind of gal... Then, one day the scale stopped moving, so I changed to fat free yogurt and fiber cereal at night... It satisfies me and fills me up, plus it has helped to keep the scale moving in the right direction. You have done such a good job on SP. You'll overcome this challenge too. Keep up the good work.

Just keep the chocolate out of the house, we get rid of all Halloween candy immediately from the house.

Question have you tried changing your workout routine. You can do something as simple as change the order of what you do. Maybe that will help you break out of your plateau

Yeaaaah sometimes even that little bit of chocolate really can make a difference and it stinks!

I'm not sure how you do with getting in your fruits and veggies every day but I had been struggling for a solid 2 months with really getting anywhere with my weight (mostly in part to something like what you're doing, having a little bit of chocolate here and there) and I finally bit the bullet, wrote down a list of fruits and veggies I enjoy and then looked up new (but simple) ways to prepare them so it wouldn't be so boring to eat. It's worked like a charm so far and I'm looking forward to a weigh in for the first time in a long time. It really does the trick filling you up too and you obviously don't feel as guilty sneaking in an extra carrot or two rather than a piece of chocolate! :)

You'll get through it either way, and your idea of giving it up on Thanksgiving weekend sounds like a great plan too!

Yes it sounds as if that may very well work. I have trouble with it too. I can't just have a little bit. If I can keep from having the first bite-then I am OK. If I have the first bite-well you can guess the rest. emoticon ,
