I'm Back!

Friday, December 04, 2009

I just returned from a 3-week trip to New Zealand. I had a great time, but now it's time to get back to work. I started back on SP on Monday and have been logging all of my food and exercise, started strength training again, and have been meeting my cardio goals every day (they're not too ambitious, but more than I was doing before). I haven't done much else, but it's a good start. I'm still adjusting to the time change (I didn't think it was going to be this hard!).

Things had been going fairly well this week until yesterday, when I got some potentially bad news. My little sister went to the doctor yesterday for the first time in probably years (she just got health insurance so can afford to go now), and they found 3 lumps in her breasts. They're sending her in for a mammogram and sonogram (doing both because her breasts are so dense) on the 14th, and we're all hoping it's nothing. It could be something benign like calcium deposits. There's no history of breast cancer in our family at all, so we're hoping. She's only 27. I'm going to try my hardest not to let any more bad news get me off track again though.

Sorry to hear about your sister. But try not to let it derail your efforts. When the tests are done then they will have a better picture of what is going on, try not to worry about what hasn't happened yet. No family history is a good sign, stay positive and focused. Let me know if you need anything and in the meantime I will put her in my prayers that the tests come back negative for the cancer. Keeping you in my thoughts! emoticon
