Quality of Sleep

Monday, December 14, 2009

Wow, I did not sleep well last night. But, in my defense, I'm 38 weeks pregnant, I need a new mattress (it sags in the middle), and I think this baby has dropped so I'm visiting the bathroom frequently for an irritatingly small amount, lol.

It's the weirdest thing that at the time when you need the most energy and best sleep, it's hard to achieve. But I'll take a nap later today when my daughter does, and she's been the sweetest little angel today playing by herself and asking for little attention, so that helps, lol.

But, even when I'm not pregnant I have to remember the balance of quality and quantity. I know my body, and while 8 hours is enough, for me 9 to 10 is better. Sure I have less time in the day, but the time I have then is more productive. Since we just bought new baby furniture a new mattress for me will have to wait. It might take awhile, but once my weight is down, both from having the baby, and from "Sparking" I should find that I sleep better, at least for the little timeframes I will have with a newborn.

Growing a family, so many blessings, so many challenges, and so worth it :)

Well the only thing I can think of... since there is no money at this time for a new one... is to try flipping it over or even try rotating top to bottom...... let your dh do that... mattress flipping is hard work... and I don't think you should try to do that on your own in any way at this time... but sometimes there is a little life lift on the other side of the mattress... at lease maybe your body will not be sagging into the same spots... as you are in now. [ or lol... maybe it will then be on your dh's side and not yours ;) emoticon
I am hoping that might be of some help... till you can afford the new one! Good Luck!
I hope this works for you!

Tempurpedic is what you are thinking about. I have one and like it, though it seems hot in the summer. Remember, I live in the tropics with no A/C, Solution was to get 2 really thick mattress pads. Authorized dealers will let you sleep on it for 30 nights (well, they did 3 years ago).

Invest in a really good mattress either way and some luscious high thread count sheets and make your bed a super comfy place of rest.

Congrats on the upcoming newest member of your family!

I was actually thinking of spending a bunch and getting one of those...dang can't remember the name, but everyone knows the commercial, lol. The one where you can jump on the bed and not spill the glass of wine, lol. I think that is one that I found really high reviews for on a product comparison website. We'll have to wait til the baby furniture is paid off, not sure how long that's going to take. Thanks for the advice!

I hope you are able to buy a mattress soon, because without the proper sleep, it's hard to be the best you can be. A word of advice...get a good mattress with a warranty. I have sleep issues and we recently bought a mattress at a discount store with no warranty and it is awful. My sleep quality has declined and it's a major bone of contention between my husband and me. We can't afford another new mattress and I can't sleep!

    Good Luck and God Bless!
