Kelly will be in Hawaii Today

Tuesday, January 05, 2010

After spending Christmas with us, my daughter Kelly flew to Denver and spent a few days skiing in Salt Lake City and Reno, NV arriving home late Sunday night. She called me today to let me know she was on her way to Hawaii. The Navy finally came through with her ticket. She's flying American Airlines. They don't charge the military for checked bags which is good since she has 3 bags, all her uniforms and clothes she will need for a few weeks. In several weeks her household goods will arrive. The main thing she has to do now is find a place to live. One of her friends from here is flying down to Honolulu and will be staying with her for the next month. Kelly is not sure how well that will work out, but since she doesn't know anyone there, at least she'll have company.

We gave her a new camera for Christmas and are hoping that she takes plenty of pictures of her new state. We're also hoping she sends us a few pictures.

Before I spoke to her, I did 45 minutes of exercise including 20 minutes of snow shoveling. When she called me, I was still defrosting. Snow shoveling is cold work!

She will love it in Hawaii! I vacationed there a few years ago and it was awesome! You know every picture you've seen of Hawaii that looks *picture perfect*? They're real; it looks exactly like that!

Helen I think my most favorite vacation (before Mom and I got so distant) up to date was going to Hawaii last year. It was so tropical, smelled so good, we had so much fun and it was BEAUTIFUL...............

She will love it there. Maybe you all will get to go out for a visit.

Just before my Uncle Mike passed away Nov.2. He and my Aunt Carma has spent 10 days there from Oct. 5-10. He looked happier in those pictures than I can ever remember him looking. They had a wonderful time.

So happy that Kelly got to spend Christmas with you. How exciting that she gets to go to Honolulu. Hope all works out with her friend staying for a month and that she's able to find a place to live without too much difficulty.

I couldn't help but laugh when I read your comment about the camera. Our kids have been great about taking pictures; it's the sending part that they are lacking!

Looks like you got plenty of exercise, thanks in part to the snow shoveling. There's no snow here; but, this past weekend, my daughter did travel a few hours north to Flagstaff (AZ) to play in the snow.

    Hope you eventually thawed out!

Helen, I am glad you had time with her. She will love Hawaii. Nicole is still stuck in Texas and wants out SOOOOOOOO bad. Kelly will be fine, she needed a new start. It feels good for her there. You are always in her thoughts and heart. You are a good mom. Bless you my friend, Jetta

Wow! Helen, she's STUNNING!! My sister (Airforce) chose to transfer to Hawaii (after quite a few years all over the Orient) lived there 5-7 years before her final transfer to Denver!! hahahahaha!! She's been wondering (ever since) WHY she chose CO!! I think Kelly will love it there once she makes a few friends- - - she really doesn't need that extra friend's *take* on what it's like and' if she should like it... blah, blah, blah, ya' know?!! I hope the friend's *influence* won't mess with her final decisions...

Whoa! Helen... do you know how many calories burned on that 20 min, of shoveling snow? 180 calories burned right up!! emoticon

She will love Hawaii :) I have two friends who were in the navy down there who very reluctantly re-located state side after their time down there :)

How exciting she'll be living in Hawaii! Hopefully you'll get to visit her often.
I agree - very pretty picture.
Great job on that exercise! Must have been a nice reward after all that hard work to come in and talk to her!

Helen - what a great photo. Kelly is so pretty. I am so glad she is on her way.
If I were you and Phil, I'd be making plans for a trip. I am so jealous. I know with you shoveling snow, it is a pretty good thought at this moment.

Take care and do keep us posted.
