I read in a Dr. Oz article about taking ribose, wondering if anyone has used this and what was your experience..
What about probotics???
and lastly have you tried TVP and do you have any good recipes to use it with....

had a good day and the hunger monster has left, I wish for ever shall be back...

BTW I don't advocate eating cookie when your hungry or just want to eat......but at times if I have a small treat, my mind gets off food ...but yesterday did not work....
I appreciate all your replies and know that it will happen again as it's part of being normal....

I'm planning my menu for the week, so better get back to that..

    Article from Dr. Oz was in the January 11, 2010 issue of Womans World magazine. He stated that you should take 5 grams of ribose 2-3 times daily as an energy supplement. Also that it does help people with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. I started taking Ribose about 1 month ago and I have just started feeling that I have more energy.

    Hi Kita! TVP (textured vegetable protein) is made of soy.

    It is most commonly available dried, in small, irregularly-shaped pebbles. Ever had grape nuts cereal? TVP resembles that in some way. But you don't eat it dry -- it needs to be reconstituted with something liquid. It might also be available as a powder that is meant to be added to milk as a protein supplement.

    TVP is added to lots and lots of stuff you buy in the store -- I believe it is basically the same thing as the "hydrolized vegetable protein" that you find in the ingredients lists of cheap fast food hamburgers and frozen dinners. It increases the protein value a great deal without adding much fat.

    Now if you just soak it in water, it is healthy but tastes NASTY (imho). But it can be added to lots of liquidy things and it hardly even noticeable.

    Until I had a plasma protein problem, I was a vegetarian for many years. We always made our chili with TVP -- if you use just the right amount, it is very close to ground beef or turkey. We also frequently added a small amount to soups to increase the protein and add meaty texture. My only caveat is that the dish needs to have strong enough flavor that you taste the spices/flavorings of the dish and not the TVP.

    Oh yes, I have friends who are not vegetarian, but use TVP as an extender anytime they use ground beef or turkey -- meatloaf, hamburgers, etc. It is a good binder, by the way. It is rather cheap protein, and they also do it for those great soy isoflavones!

    I take probotics, not as a separate pill but it is in my daily yogurt. Don't feel any different but I have IBS and who can tell what will trigger an attack.

    Did Dr. Oz state we should take all three or was it just for information?

    I watch Dr. Oz, but missed the one about ribose as I don't know what it is.

    I used to eat the activia yogurt with probiotics, but have switched to 0% fat Source yogurt.

    Don't know what TVP is, so guess I haven't been much help to you.

    I have not heard of ribose, but take probiotics every day. When you take 28 different prescriptions, they really tear your stomach up. I eat one activia yogurt everyday and have never had a problem since until they started re-painting and staining the whole inside of our house this last couple of weeks. Now everything tastes like that smell and it is making me nauseous.

    I heard when he said use passion flower for stress that was a good show..

    Yeah I know the hunger monster will be back but I know you will deal with it...
    lol have a cup of tea with passion flower..

    I have been taking D-Ribose (Powder) for only 2 wks now. I was reading that it has been helpful for people with Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia which is why I was trying it. I am taking 2 tsp. three times a day and after one month I will reduce it to just twice a day. I have not noticed any difference but was told that you usually will not notice a difference for about three months. The powder taste good (sweet like a sugar) so I just put it in my water. I am also taking probotics and I find them to be very helpful for me because I tend to suffer from IBS. Hope this helps.
