I am winding my day down. My desktop Joyce Meyer calendar stares at me with today's quote: God is good, and several times a day we should tell Him we realize that fact. (joyce meyer)...praise the lord, o give thanks to the lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever...Psalm 106.1
I am doing things differently today. I got my chubby white behind out of bed at 4:30 am and stepped on the elliptical and exercised. The night before I prepped all I would need for today. I used to do that...back when I took better care of me.
I made sure I got to work early. I found "The Spark" at Sam's Club about 2 weeks ago. I read it in one sitting. And cornily enough I am reminded of a church camp song late at night over the fire in the pit where we all sat toasting marshmellows in Spearfish Canyon. "It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and soon all those around will warm up in its glowing, that's how it is with god's love, once you've experienced it....blah, blah, blah...(3rd grade, I can't remember the whole thing)...you want to pass it on.
My former hospital was purchased by a large company. Many changes have occurred during the past 18 months. It has been very, very difficult...dark times. What could I do? It begins with me.
For the days I work, I want a peaceful environment. I work on a floor that should be considered miraculous...and it truly is. Every day I am blessed with the opportunity to assist Life in coming forth into this crazy world. I did it today. His name was Saib Jr. and he weighed 6 pounds 6 ounces and was born at 10:17 am. His mom did a great job and did it with more of a smile on her face than did I 18 years ago!
I am trying to create the calm that is said to occur in the eye of the hurricane. And I have been able to do it 2 days now for my coworkers. Unfortunately my son was sick with some alien mutated virus last week (2 years old) and I had to call in sick to work 3 times in order to care for him.
I work with some wonderful people. I always have. If we pay attention...we all do.
I have the same time allotted to all the mystics, sages, writers, artists, nobel peace prize winners...so do you: these very 24 hours...we get to choose how to spend them.
