Positive Psychology

Monday, February 01, 2010

Okay, after much deliberation and time I think I finally have a really good idea what I want to be when I grow up.

I've said for a few years now that I want to be a life coach, but that has always seemed so broad and I never knew exactly where to start. Now I think I'm sure I want to continue on that path, but I've discovered a branch of psychology that seems to be perfectly in sync with me. Positive Psychology was coined in 1998, but I'm just now learning about it. I love it!! I have a BS in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy, I'm an extremely optimistic person, I strongly believe in the power of spirituality and positive thought, I'm always rooting for people to discover their strenghts and play off of them...this is a lot of what Positive Psychology is all about!!

I've been wanting to go back to school, but I never knew exactly what for. I think this is it. I'm currently seeking out positions for advising at some online universities which pay comparable to what I'm making now. With a job at a university, I will get my tuition 100% reimbursed, which answers my financial question of "how the hell can I afford this when I'm living paycheck to paycheck?"

It's all falling into place, I just have to get one of these positions. Resume was updated and submitted to follow the job description, now I just need to get the interview...let's go resume!!! Next step will be the interview, so I can continue to prepare for that by working on my STAR format, and pinning down the perfect answers to potential questions (thank you HR background). Oh, and darn, guess I get to go shopping for a new rock star suit to interview in. I'm really excited about this, but I need to get the interview first!!

Wish me luck!!!

I just love you! You are an optimistic person but, I love you too for being blunt. Example for the SparkFriends, I love to take her shopping because she does not tell you an outfit looks good even when you know it does not. She will tell you that you don't look good in it and then help make suggestions for something different.

So glad I come to you for advice. I may be older but, you are definitely wiser. emoticon emoticon

Interesting! This sounds right up my alley too! Seriously, I have been thinking about this a lot lately! I can't be a SAHM forever... what am I going to do when they are all in school full-time! Something I am passionate about for sure... honestly... I could really see a lot of myself in your blog here! I think I was meant to see this!

I WISH YOU THE BEST!!! TO REACHING YOUR DREAMS, and finally knowing what you want to be when you grow up!

    THAT'S AWESOME!!!

So glad I followed Asherah in here!!!

Good luck on your interview! The job is yours!!!

    When it happens of course!!!
