Why does food that you love have to hate you back?????

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

Sunday I went to a chinese restaurant and should have known better. I had a very small bowl (maybe 1/2 cup) of peking soup and they had mongolian barbecue so I picked veggies and shrimp, salmon and crab meat and had the guy cook it up with a garlic sauce. I didn't eat the whole thing but it was sooooo good. Logged my day's food in, was within my calorie restriction..wohoo right? Got on the scale Monday morning...BAM two pound gain. Sighhhh. Can I NEVER eat chinese food again?

Last week I went to a chinese restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday, and gained 2.5 lbs that took me all week to get off. And now I'm back THERE again. So frustrating. I drink at least 10 glasses of water/diet green tea a day and that doesn't include the caffeinated stuff and it will still take me all week to get the water weight off. Ugh!!!

I know, I know, I should stay away from the stuff. And will try to get it down to once a month or less. Not too many restaurant choices around here and lots of birthday celebrations LOL.
So I shouldn't complain. The good thing is that when I FINALLY got rid of the water weight I was also down a pound from my pre-chinese food weigh in. So I'm losing real weight along with the water retention.

Maybe they use MSG in their food and that is what is making me retain all this water??? Good possibility. Just need to stay away... so weak though... sighhhhhh

okay Sheila, sure I can cook chinese at home, but....What else would I have to whine about if I didn't eat the stuff that bloats me like there is no tomorrow? emoticon

Besides when we are going out to eat, I don't ALWAYS get to pick where we go. They do get tired of salad restaurants LOL

How are you doing my chick-a-dee?

I'd bet it was msg and salt. Chinese restaurant food is just oozing those things.

Remember 2.5 lbs can definitely be water weight. And, you're female... like me...that means we fluctuate through the month too. Drat, our hormones!

Measure inches.. they will tell your real story more than your scale. Day to Day weight is over rated. Just look for the trend. A little wobble is okay.

The soya and boullion they use to flavour soups and sauces are filled with sodium.. The items you ate are healhty enough, if this is a once and a while treat just be aware of water retaining problems.. Eat healthy as usual and the weight will return to normal.. I don't eat purchased soups and let meat and vegetables drip off it there is a sauce. I gather from a buffet my food with a laddle and let fluids drain off.. If there is salad I suppliment up of this and plain rice..
