Over The Hurdle

Monday, February 15, 2010

My morning started off really well, I ate breakfast and was off to work. By mid morning I was (for lack of a better term) starving! I had prepared a healthy, smaller portioned lunch as I have committed, but in my mind I wanted a hefty meal.

I knew that I could make it, and with much struggle resisted the urge to go to the cafeteria and purchase something that I would regret later. I ate the lunch I prepared, reminded myself of my goals and made it through the early afternoon. I made it past the cravings!!! Woo-Hoo!!

Does anyone have any suggestions for beating the cravings? I don't chew gum so that won't work for me. I would appreciate any that you may have found to be successful for you. Thanks in advance!

Someone once told me that cravings are a result of dehydration. I don't know if I believe it, but I try drinking a tall glass of ice water when I get a craving...if I still have the craving 15 minutes later, I have a little bite of the food I am craving. I usually don't crave it so much after I've had the water. Probably I am just psyching myself into believing that, but I don't care if it works! Hope this helps!
