The Power of Positive People

Monday, March 15, 2010

I logged on to my computer this morning, and the first email I saw was from a former student of mine. By the time I finished reading it, I was smiling and my day was made!!!!! No matter was else happens today that is negative in any way, I will have that email to re-read. This former student just graduated from a university and has been accepted in a grad-school program. She is also getting married in September. I have questioned my career choice at times, wondering if what I did mattered or had an effect on someone. I am NOT questioning it this morning. In fact, I feel pretty good about it.

Have to agree whole heartedly with SHERYLDS comments. I know how you have helped many students and fellow teachers along the way.
So glad you opened that e-mail in the morning so it could brighten your whole day, heck the whole week!

To have a student who would continue to contact you after the fact, is to have been more that merely a teacher in a classroom. Obviously, she thought very highly of you, and I am sure that even people who weren't your students feel the same.

It is truly rewarding! I mentor teens at church...it is my old church 45 minutes away! It is hard, but when my husband and I go... it is like home. The teens complimented me on my weight loss and I felt like a million dollars! Their appreciation and their kind words always make me go back... God is good and we do it for all the right reasons!!!!
