Personal Responsibility, I said PERSONAL

Monday, April 05, 2010

Okay, yeah, I gained some weight. It was not the fault of Mc Donalds or Pizza Hut, it was me.
I think it is a bit of an intrusion, when the government tries to get involved in my choices. In Illinois, taxes have been added to sugary products and soft drinks, in the hopes that people will not indulge so frequently. Has it worked so far? From all reports...nope...but you already knew that.
Look, I like the freedom of eating what I want. Do I make some bad choices occasionally? Oh, yeah! However, I do not want "Mama Government" over my shoulder telling me what to do and when to do it. In order for me to learn to make better choices, that is exactly what I must do...Learn... for my self.

I agree--gov't intervention won't make people eat better, it'll only increase size of gov't and our taxes. What a shame you have that headache in IL.

Yep, I agree completely. I was so annoyed when I heard that tax was going to be part of the new health care plan. As intelligent adults, we each make our own choice every time we take a bite. I say Boo to big brother.

Instead of putting taxes on junkfood, they should really make healthier foods cheaper. Also makes laws about what can be added to foods, some of the chemicals are awful. I do agree with you. The burger won't cling to you butt if you didn't put it in your mouth in the first place.
