My surgery went well....

but I look like I've been taken apart and put back together again! So many scars!
To recap: I had an extended tummy tuck, liposuction, scar revision and breast lift done as an early 20th anniversary present to myself. I spent one night overnight at the surgical center and came home with one drain still in place. At my first post-op visit they removed that (what a relief). Tomorrow is my second post-op visit. I'm not sure what to expect for that except I HOPE he gives me permission to sleep without my compression garments on. They have DEFINITELY been the worse part of this whole experience. Imagine yourself, a sausage in a casing. As the day progresses, you start to feel like you've been put on the grill....as you cook, the garment gets tighter and tighter until you just can't BELIEVE you haven't exploded already. That, my friends, is life in a compression garment! It extends from mid calf to just below the breasts; plus, you have a bra-type one for your boobs. Luckily the darn thing has a stategically placed "opening" so you don't have to disrobe every time you need to pee!
I have found that applying lotion to the scars at least twice a day helps with the pulling/tugging/gonna burst feeling. And a couple of well placed gauze pads helps at those places where the garment rubs and irritates the scar.
I drove for the first time yesterday. I went to the grocery for a small shopping. It felt good to be back a bit in my routine...although by days end I was WIPED OUT. Going for a short walk later with a friend. Have been on the scale but since my "official" weigh in day is Friday I'm gonna stick with that...let's just say that if the thing stays TRUE to what it said this morning I will be a happy girl on Friday.
