1st of May? Must be time for a blog!

Saturday, May 01, 2010

I used to blog on the first of each month to assess how I was doing and to set new goals for the month to come. I didn't do this last month for a million and one reasons, not least because I was doing BAD with my weight loss and practically all of my goals!

This month it's time to get back into the habit - so here are my goals:

1. Lose 7lbs, taking me back to my lowest weight of 152lbs, which I was on March 1st.

2. Hit 500 fitness minutes - the gym make me feel good!

3. Have 31/31 days binge free - can I make it a whole month without raiding the biscuit tin in the evening and undoing my hard work for that day?!

4. Measure my waist at 30 inches again!! I haven't measured today as I am super bloated and if I see some stupid high number it will just throw me off and make me feel bad, but I think it's around 32 inches without the bloat!

5. Feel happy with my progress - irrelevant of numbers!

I think that's about it - my goals are still number focused, but I will be happy with losing 1lb this month, as long as I am continuing with feeling good about myself. This whole year so far has been HARD for me to get my eating habits under control as I have gone from being too restrictive to binge eating practically every other day. So my main focus is to get back to planning and tracking my meals, not binging in the evening and not being too hard on myself if I eat too many calories one day, just moving on again to the next day! This is the biggest advice I give out to everyone - forgive yourself the bad days and move on, but it's sometimes hard taking your own advice! Especially when your scales are up 7lbs from 2 months ago!! Aghhh!! Oh well, it happens, but I know these days that a gain isn't the end of the world or a reason to give up and gain all 100lbs back - it is just a reason to work a little bit harder again!

Here's to having a great month..... I hope you all set yourself some realistic, happy making goals, because I'm feeling great and ready to get back to my best!! Oh and I'm still planning on getting in that bikini this summer, progress pictures will be up again just as soon as I have some progress to show!!

Just a suggestion about the bisquits (I am assuming these are like U.S. "cookies"????)

I love love love OREO's and I would constantly binge on them and sabotage all my efforts of the day. One of my lovely Weight watchers leaders once told me "give yourself permission to have the oreos and account for them, once you do this they will no longer be a taboo".

So.......for like two weeks I made room in my daily calories to have one serving of Oreo's everynight with some milk. I would really look forward to them and I knew I would get to have them. After two weeks I did not want them anymore and I cannot even remember the last time I had an Oreo???????

I have stopped by binge eating at night by telling myself that I can have those treats that I want, that they are not going away any time soon and I set a plan to have them.

This is so freeing to me and it has really helped the night snacking.

Hope this is helpful! continue on with your great success and be PROUD.

i think if you focus on not bingeing, the weight and the waist measurement will come off with it!

Good plan! I like the idea of blogging the first of each month that way you can have a plan for the upcoming month and reflect on how you did in the last month. Maybe I'll go do a May 1 blog (even though its May 3).

Sounds like a great plan. I know how it is with going over calories from time to time. I really try to focus on eating healthy calories at least. It helps me not too beat myself up too much if I go over.

    TO A GREAT MONTH! emoticon

I have had the same issues with binge eating. I have lost a little over 60 pounds since 2008. I did a very restrictive diet to lose the weight. I have not been able to get past the 150's for almost a year due to my emotional eating. They say that people with eating issues(hence why people are overweight) tend to develop forms of binge eating disorders. The restrictive nature of "dieting" sets it off in certain people. I would work more on doing a lifestyle change and not concentrating on the "numbers". Good luck!

Thanks! I have just been going along with only the final desired goal in mind....not breaking it down into short term at all. Thanks for the advise! Time for me to set myself a few monthly goals too!

Your goals sound awesome! Thanks for the reminder of letting go the bad days and reaching for the sky the next day! You've told me that many times and you've really helped me! I too would have kept eating the same way after binges until I got back to over 200 pounds! I know it's not healthy for me and not good for my emotional health either! emoticon

Sounds great Pink!! I hate when I slack off and then either the scale stay's the same or I gain. Why do we do this to ourselves!! Good luck to us this month emoticon emoticon

I think your approach of taking one day at a time is very wise. Every day is a fresh start.

Glad to see you back and motivated!! I really needed to hear the part about not being too hard on yourself - I have been craving peanut butter like nothing else. It's insane. I have been telling my boyfriend to hid the jar.

    Have a good weekend!!

From someone who has lost as much weight and gained it all back and more.. more than once, this bingeing is the greatest thing you have to tackle. I knew I had come to a huge turning point when I ate chocolate and it did not turn into days of struggle. Seems to me that 30 days might be a long time for this one? How about breaking it down into a week at a time... or even a day at a time.. make it a streak so that you can pat yourself on the back and be proud for each day you accomplish. And maybe you could take up some activity in the evenings to keep your mind and fingers busy so you don't hit the food?

I'm with you Pink! Especially on the binges, have had a rough April. Yes, I know what you mean and I keep telling what you preach!! I'm thinking of having a accountability buddy and see if that may help.

You should be proud of all your hard work, 100 pounds is astounding!! emoticon

We just have to give it our all and think positive, we are leading a healthy lifestyle which is fantastic we just need to keep learning to relate to food and our emotions.

Good luck on the binge free days. I never know that I'm binging until it's over. I don't really do that anymore. I thing it was the discipline of Spark that did it. And, finding out about mindful eating. Focusing on what I put into my mouth.

If you conquer the binging, 7 pounds will be a piece of cake. Well I guess a whole cake would be 7 pounds.
