A glorious Friday

What a difference a good nights sleep makes...I slept good last night so today was so much better, I had so much energy and just felt so much better.

I read some where today that we could use the "USDA NUTRIENT DATABASE" To find calorie counts, fat grams etc. I have yet to get there but had a few minutes to do my daily blog....

I have a question what causes cramps. last night in the hot tub I got some really terrible cramps in my ankle and big toe, and the bottom of my foot....OMG did it hurt and no matter how much I tried to move it and massage it it would not let up.....I stood up and stretched my legs as best I could and finally with Gary's help I got out of the hot took about 10 more minutes before I could really walk normal......I get cramps in my feet a lot at night when I sleep. they use to be in my calves but now it's my feet or toes. As you know I eat good, take a supplement just in case I might be lacking something.....I do warm ups and cool downs, I stretch daily...sure has me baffled, Gary and others think I exercise to much....
I will ask my doctor next Friday is my yearly physical...I was hoping to be in the 130's by then but doesn't look like it will happen, but he thought 150 was a good weight for me so we shall see what the report is this year......
Heck how can I be unhappy when 5 years ago I had my physical I weighed 142 give or take a pound...Last year he hugged me and I saw a tear in his we shall see this year, I can't remember what I weighed last year at this time....

So have a healthy week end.....remember food is fuel not entertainment...I say that to myself a lot and it has really been helping me stay on the healthy path to happiness...

    As some others have said, I've heard low potassium can cause cramps. I have trouble with cramps in my left leg which has nerve damage. Not sure how all that ties together, but it seems it does. Hope your doctor can help.

    Hey kitt,
    They may want to test your uric acid....for gout. That usuallly affect severe pain to the big toe and foot. I will be hoping it is just low potassium as others suggest.
    I changed calcuim which now has magnesium and vitamin D and my leg cramps have almost completely gone away.
    I found the calcuim at Costo. brand name is Kirkland

    There can be many causes of foot cramps and maybe your shoes are the problem?

    Most definitely talk to Dr. about the cramps. My guess would be potassium, I was getting them when my potassium was low, the same as when you said you felt tired and just plain weak, you had to push yourself to work out.

    Sounds like your Dr. was real happy for you, last year.

    Kitt -are you doing proper stretching after your walks? or exercise..
    Do you take calcium?
    I get those cramps too.. but I have fibro and RA so always contribute the cramps to that but in your case not sure..make sure you ask doctor next week!

    You've gotten some good advice here...good idea to check with your doctor as well since you'll be there soon anyway. I hope they get better -- they can be so painful!

    Kitt I had really bad cramps one night after the Christmas holidays, so googled the question "what causes bad feet cramps" and it told me my potassium could be low or my calcium.

    I hadn't been eating my bananas lately, so I started on 3 that day, then 2, now I faithfully eat one every morning. I also make sure I have my milk or yogurt daily and haven't had another bad night of cramps, and it was bad, I was up the whold night crying.

    hey Kitt, when I have leg cramps it usually means I'm low on potassium and need to eat some bananas. I'm on blood pressure medicine and that's usually the cause. Definitely ask the doc. And isn't it great to stop and look and realize how far you've come? We get so involved in the day to day that it is easy to forget where we were! emoticon

    Yes, getting a good night's sleep really is HUGE for me too......makes all the difference in my thinking and outlook on life! Abt. the cramps.......owww , I am so sorry, I know how that feels, and its not fun! For me, when I get them like that, it means 1 of 2 things......either I am needing to eat some bananas or orange juice (for the potassium) OR I have just plain done too much for that day and my muscles are letting me know. Hope this helps!
