Skinny people eat less

Monday, June 14, 2010

This is something that I've really been pondering the past week or so. As I work hard to stay within my calorie target range, sometimes I feel disappointed that I can't eat as much as I would like or what I would like. It is then when I have to remind myself that thin people don't eat as much. Unless they're in training for a great physical feat, they don't eat as much because they don't need to. There's less mass for them to maintain so they don't have to put as much fuel in. I can't eat like I did because then I will look like I did and be miserable like I was. I need to keep eating healthy and eating less because I like how I'm looking and will look and want to keep looking and feeling this way. Food is no longer my constant companion; right now, it's more like a Facebook friend; one day, I hope it to be like a M-I-L! lol emoticon

Ohhhh this is an elusive insight for me: if I eat like I did, I'll look like I did; and the smaller I am, the less I CAN eat and stay that way!

@ TheShrinkingDiva--I agree; I think my stomach is getting back "in shape" so to speak. There have been times that I've noticed how full I feel and I haven't even eaten HALF of what I would have normally. Of course, just paying attention to the "full signal" is a new step too! lol

Don't you love those "a-ha" moments? I've had so many of them since starting on SP. Attitude is everyting, and it sounds like you're on the right track with yours! emoticon

I have the opposite problem - My brain remembers being able to eat a certain amount of food (like two HUGE slices of my favorite lasagna), but my stomach has new requirements and, after eating that formerly normal portion, will loudly protest that this is simply not to be allowed anymore!

I've had very thin friends who ate a TON of food - who could easily eat me under the table when I was well over 300 lbs - but it's still taking quite an adjustment to learn that **I** cannot eat that way.

Good for you for realizing your body's needs! I'm looking forward to the day when we can BOTH treat food like our M-I-L!
