Obstacles are everywhere on the journey of life

Tuesday, July 06, 2010

This weekend was really an exceptional experience for me. I traveled home to Ohio to visit my parents who I am thankful are in remarkably good health, as well as my brother. I miss them terribly and enjoy every minute I can get with them. But going home does not come without a price on my journey to health. I did not "overeat" but I did not make the best choices. As a society we are conditioned to celebrate around food. Holidays are strewn with bad choices. My parents keep things like cookies, donuts, and homemade ice cream in their house. As is their right to do so. My right, is to not choose those items to consume. Unfortunately I am still weak. I did not over indulge, but I did indulge.

Today I am back on the journey to health, hoping that not too much damage was done over the three days I was there. I refuse to step on the scale until my scheduled weigh in. How did everyone else do? Was your weekend on the path to health, or did you side step a little?

I believe in having fun and enjoying life, so you had a nice indulgence, it is not the end of the world .

One thing I learn is to eat what i want, and the good habits will follow, they always do emoticon

I faced those obstacles too this past weekend - beer at the reunion and street dance and too many goodies at my mom's. Luck you I did indulge a little, but not over-indulge. At least I didn't do the "oh well I blew it, so what's one (or two or three) more" like I have in the past. It sounds like you did the same, so we do have something to be proud of.

We're back on track today and didn't let a little slip derail us completely - we are learning.
