Shaky start to Friday

Friday, July 23, 2010

I feel like I got a slap in the face...Reality can be harsh.
I checked out a youtube video that some one told me about.
It was about being fat......and I sure can relate......

but the slap was in the fact that 95-98% of people who loose over 75 pounds gain it all back in 3 years.....WOW......not good odds.....it seems to have scared me down to my toes....
OMG I thought how will I survive....I can still hear friends whisper about , "she will gain it back"
Then in keeping with my new frame of mind I had to tell myself...Self you have been at this for more than 4 years.....you have not gained but continue to loose a little bit each month....

Self you eat healthy everyday, every meal, Self you watch portions, you measure..

Self you exercise each day and add more and more steps, you find ways to keep that body moving and
MOSTLY SELF YOU ENJOY DOING THIS EVERY DAY......YES YOU ENJOY EATING HEALTHY AND YOU ENJOY THE EXERCISE...YOU ENJOY HEARING HOW GREAT YOU LOOK..YOU LOVE YOUR NEW LIFE SO GET YOUR HEART IN TO THAT BRAIN AND KNOW YOU WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO EATING JUNK FOOD AND YOU WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO NOT MOVING THAT BODY.....
SO CRY A FEW TEARS , GIVE YOUR SELF A FEW MOments TO BE SCARED AND THEN GET OVER IT....YOU WILL NOT GO BACK, IT IS NOT AN OPTION....

Well that crisis has past.....I am strong and in control....

thanks for being here

Have a healthy day, it's up to you what you poke in that mouth...it doesn't jump in there on it's own......

I will be that 5% who keeps the weight off.....and I have all of you too help me when I get weak or falter...

Kitt......

I am strong and in control

Jo is right Kitt, the lady was just doing a video on her opinion she is no expert and she was talking about People who go on a "diet" not people who learn to eat right.

You are the right eater ,the healthy eater, you will not gain it back. Give yourself some credit, you are too smart to think you would go back to your old eating habits.

You did the right self talk, now please believe it.

Besides we would not let you go back to old habits, we would hunt you done and help you and hug you back on your healthy lifestyle.

    Hugs and more hugs Mary

Some of us are in the 5%, so this was what I learned....

    Lost 50 lbs...gained it back x2 times

Lost over 100 lbs in 2003, have NOT gained it back

Reasons: the 1st and every other time, once I lost the weight, I didn't follow through and thought "I did it before, what is 10lbs gain, I can do this again and will start next week" Well when you stop exercising and eat anything you want, it sure doesn't take a scientist to figure out why you gained it back.

Fast forward to 2003.....after losing it, made a promise to myself that I would NOT gain more than 5lbs without getting back to basics. And it has worked, basics, weighing every day, having options on food and especially exercise when having health issues for me is the key.

Getting support is important and rewriting out your goals and reasons why you want to be "normal size" works

Pfft, I think you've already beaten that "statistic". Look at all the weight you've lost and how positive an attitude you have about continuing to stay fit. You're pep talk was an inspiration for me! Keep up the amazing work!

Yeah, what Sarah said! Those numbers can be skewed to mean anything anyone wants. And anyone reading them can choose to be wigged out and keep eating, or ignore them and get on with their life (not everyone fits the "textbook" cases so just ignore them!).

Yes, a lot of people do gain back the weight -- you and I have both done it in the past. However, it is different for both of us this time around. We are focused on the lifestyle changes, NOT dieting. We are losing the weight slowly through healthy lifestyle changes, sensible eating, and regular exercise, not some fly-by-night fad diet or dangerous starvation practices. We are in control of what we're doing and have taking responsibility for our actions. We are working to change behaviors and be accountable, and not using any old excuse to justify continued poor eating practices.

We have made a decision to change our lifestyles, for life! We will succeed, Kitt. You are already doing it, and I am coming up behind you. Don't let that garbage get to you. Keep living your new, healthy lifestyle and ignore that "white noise" in the background.

I have heard this as well, and I honestly wonder at the concept of WHY you could allow yourself to ruin years of work to get to being healthy... I plan to carry on my eating plan for, well, forever basically.

I agree with Sarah. Always look at where stats come from! People can make anything sound the way they want too. You can do it Kitt. You are an inspiration.

Don't listen to them! Those statics are complete BS!

If that were true, WW wouldn't have life time members and there would be no one to lead meetings because everyone would gain the weight back.

You are doing this, and you are going to keep it off! Because this is your lifestyle now, and you've completely got this!!
