Needing a little more Balance

Thursday, August 05, 2010

Yeah, so I am totally loving the P90X workouts! They are extreme, and I can feel my body drenched with sweat. What I am still not loving is the diet! Geez, I cannot believe I still am all crappy feeling today. So, after talking it through with my hunny (who doesn't like the idea of me dieting anyway...) I have decided to make an adjustment to the Fat Shredder diet. I am going to change my ratio from 50/30/20 to 45/35/20. That small difference of 5 percent in each direction is enough that I am not forcing double portions of turkey on myself at lunch, and I am eating two slices of high fiber bread on my sandwich. I am still drinking two protein shakes a day and eating egg whites and lean meats, and I am still not going to be able to eat as many carbs as I would like. But it is more reasonable this way. Considering I haven't been able to go to the bathroom properly since Sunday, something has to give!

So, starting today I am making that change. It should go well.

I ordered my heart rate monitor, a new set of bands, and a chin up bar today. Should be good investments, and I am excited to put them to use! I just want to feel more confident in how many calories I am burning versus eating. I think a 500 calorie deficit is healthy, but I do not want to push it much farther than that and have my weight loss shut down. Speaking of weight, I am not even going to weigh myself this week even though last week and this week are two of the best I've had with diet and exercise in a while- because of the fiber issue. I can't imagine it will affect my weight in a good way. So, I'll wait until next Thursday. Who knows, might be a nice little jump by then. Or it might be nothing, either way at least I'll know it's my real weight unaffected by belly issues.

Tonight is Yoga, which is exciting. We have to tack the ab ripper on at the end because Candace couldn't make time for it last night. No big deal, just almost 2 hours of working out in one day... I can't imagine that Yoga is going to be that extreme, though. And I love Yoga. :]

Happy Thursday, so close to Friday for those of us who get weekends off (not me this week unfortunately..).

ugh, i'm totally with you on the protein overload. i cut waaaaaay back on mine because i was so friggin' constipated. belly issues completely mask any progress you've made, so it's smart that you're waiting to step on that scale!

i hope you find a ratio that works for you!!

oh, and question: maybe this is getting into the TMI area, but do you find that your protein shakes give you gas? I see that you drink two a day, i'd love to be able to have just ONE after a workout, but the pains i get afterwards are so debilitating that i can't go near the stuff! maybe it's the brand??

It's great that you've found a workout that motivates you and you enjoy. You'll be where you want to be before you know it.

sounds like a good plan! You most definitely do not want to be uncomfortable and i can't imagine you are at the moment! Yoga sounds awesome...ab ripper...sounds terrifying! You're making me want to give it a shot. Maybe when my gym membership I barely use runs out at the end of the month...
