I am so proud of my kids!!

A big hello and hugs to all my spark friends. I hope you all are on track and doing well!! I have been coming on and reading blogs but just have been so crazy at work to post.

So i signed my ten year old son up and my thirteen year old daughter for my gym. The other day was our first work out. I started them easy, the three of us were lined up on the treadmills. My daughter ran for ten whole minutes and my son was so cute. He didnt even know how to walk on it. His earplugs kept falling out and i had to help him so i didnt get much of a workout myself but it was a great feeling. Us doing this together. We all have about thirty more pounds to lose so we turned it into a competition.

Their pediatrician has a program that they got into with monthly meetings basically with different topics portion control, school lunch things relevant to their age. I have noticed they are really watching what they eat and i dont buy any bad snacks anymore.

They have both lost two pounds already and they were so excited!! The dont look really heavy but my husband has a bad health history so i want them to take care of themselves. It also motivates me, i have been slacking on the exercise. WE go tomorrow night again and this time i think they are ready for an hour on the treadmill, i am so excited.

it is such a hard thing especially for my thirteen year old. I dont want her to have body issues. My ten year old will be getting so much taller so i told him if he just watches and is active he will slim down. My daughter is already as tall as me and im 5 8 so I dont know how much taller she will get.

    That is awesome. You have nothing to worry about with your daughter if she makes small, but meaningful changes now. Just a little regular exercise, eating sensible amounts of quality food and the results will come quickly at her age.

    I would try to focus on how good it feels to be strong and fit rather than about weighing less. It is such a balancing act trying to get our kids to be conscious of being healthy without taking an unhealthy interest in their weight. It sounds like you are all going down the right path now though.

    Maybe you can enlist the kids to help get their dad motivated to eat better and exercise a little. Even a small change can make a big difference over time. If you're doing the shopping and/or cooking, you have the power!

    Hi. thank you for your kind words, I am a cancer survivor,last year for some reason I got in a rut, and gained over sixty pounds,I go once a year for my check up, the doctor almost fell over, I was feeling kinda sorry for myself, so the next day i started walking again, I got the flat belly diet from prevention mag. great way to eat, then I joined the Team in training For the Leukemia Society, , and I think what you are doing is terrific
    a great age to get your children involved, I walked the feet of my children when they were young, They still like to walk, so keep up the good work

    Great job getting fit & fabulous and helping your children to do the same. The grand-daughters work out with me in the pool and doing chair exercises. It's amazing. Hopefully they will never get where I got! Love you, Dawn emoticon

    That is terrific! I wish I had done that for my kids when they were younger. My DS got his weight down in college and my DD is on SP now, still struggling.

    I'm so excited for both you & the kids Sweetie! That's so fantastic. I can imagine how happy you are as well as proud of them. It's such an awesome thing for them to get involved. Now that I've made some crucial changes in my eating lifestyle, my mindset is changing. I want to have healthier foods in the house. No junk and no buying foods from anyplace other than the grocery store-and none of that processed crap!

    Oh Honey that is just so wonderful. You are doing such a fabulous thing for your family and they will benefit from it for the rest of their lives! I wish my parents had educated me more on food when I was a kid. You are doing so good honey...keep it up and know that we are all so proud of you!
