Time Limit

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

I only have a few minutes to sit at the computer. I recently spent the weekend at the hospital. I was in severe pain for a few days and it got where I wasn't able to eat or get enough fluids down with the heat wave over I thought I was getting enough water down. I ended up on an IV plus morephine plus lidocaine patches. I am home but limited on how long I can sit. Since getting out of the power chair I seem to be collecting braces to wear in order to stay on my feet. I have braces for each ankle, one knee, lower back and now one for my neck. The x rays showed some potential problems and on Sat I get to go for a few MRI areas to be done. I hope they get answers that don't require surgery.I have heard so many nightmare stories relating to back surgeries and have been trying to avoid surgery on my back. Good news I lost two of the pounds that I had gained. Not my choice for weight loss but anything that I can make positive I am going to.
Sorry to all my team mates if I have missed your birthdays. God bless my spark family.

Holly, I am so sorry to hear of your pain and what you are going through with your back. I pray the MRI's will show something that can be done to help without surgery. Wish I was closer to you to help you out, sweet friend.

Hugs to you and I'll be praying.

Let's hope you are able to get some relief without the need for surgery that you seem to be fearful of.

    Take care

    Hi Holly,
Sometimes it seems as if there is truth in the saying "When it rains, it pours." I am sorry that you were in the hospital and had these setbacks, but the hospital is also the place to get tot he bottom of these issues the most quickly. (I'm having some complications right now too and I have to wait a few days until I find out when the next test is that will help me to know which--or how many surgeries will be required to resolve my new problem. If I had been in the hospital, there would have been all of the needed tests and we would be moving to the next place.) There isn't a lot of fun in braces, but the entire point is to protect your joints until the replacement surgery. I know it seems like a setback and is interfering with your weight loss journey, but you must need this to be at your healthiest. Will you need physical therapy to go along with this? Did they find out what had caused your stomach pain? I'm willing to bet on stress--do your docs know about the level of stress you are under? Make sure you confide in them when you can, they need to know what might cause a problem for your health.
Now, hang in there and follow doctor's orders carefully, This is a bump in the road and things will get better. As always, you are in my prayers.
    Gentle hugs,

Holly, I am so sorry that you are suffering so very much.
I was in a terrible auto accident, and my whole body
was injured. It caused one of my vertebra to break
in half. After horrible suffering for three months,
a neurosurgeon did my spine fusion & lots of other work
on the nerves & etc. It took me about two years to heal.
However, I sure don't suffer like I did before. I can
tolerate some pain now. I hope that your doctor guides
you in the right direction, for your body's sake and
your ease of pain. God bless you. emoticon
