Early Morning Walk

Tuesday, September 07, 2010

I have been trying to get up early enough in the mornings to get a nice brisk walk in during the week. This way the temps are not extreme either way and their are few people out an about my apt complex. Now some of you may think that walking around an apt complex isn't much of a walk. Yet, around my complex that sits on a hill walking around the complex a couple of times can be challenging sometimes.

I live what you might say on the crest of the hill at the back of the complex. So I normally start my walk with a trip to the trash dumpster Which is about a two buildings behind me. Then I go around the outer parking lot up to the front of the complex where the mail boxes are. Now mind you most of this is down hill. I always leave the hard part for last which is the upward climb back to my apt. I take the more senic route through the courtyards with the trees, squirrels and birds to help me start my day. It takes me 20 minutes to do this in a brisk walk.

This morning I did it twice once at a brisk walk. The second time at a more sedate pace with my dog Katie at my side. She loves to walk anytime of the day. She helps encourage me to get out an walk.

I know this is late but good for you!!! Glad to hear that walking with Katie helps to encourage you! That's the great thing about having dogs is that they just LOVE to go for walks! I know Pollywog (Polly) gets either mopey or is wound up if she doesn't get to go for a walk.
