i had a word again with the dr and though for the tablets it is better if i avoid the listed foods in my last blog she said if i normally eat them i should do so and they would alter the tablets accordingly.i.e will need more tablets than if i don´t est them.

vitamin k is what the boody uses to thicken the blood and as i have 7 lung embolies my blood needs to be thinner which is why i should avoid foods with vitamin k.the tablets they used to help thin the blood are based on a substance used as a rat poisen.so i would rather take less than more of them if you know what i mean.so i plan to carry on eating the low calorie things i really love,i.e spinat and tomatoes but in moderation and make the use of all the other foods that are not on the list.it will mean that losing weight might be a bit slower as most of the things on the list are what i normally eat when trying to lose weight but the thought of taking more tablets to me is not a good option also the thought of my blood getting thinner quicker is a priority to me as many of you know my father died from a lung embolie and the thought really scares me.so though it is not as bad as i oritginally thought as the dr said if i eat the food on the list they can alter the medication accordingly the option if is there for me.so look forward not backwards and start everyday with a smile wheather you feel like it or not. emoticon

Slow and steady always wins the race anyway, and many of us have proved that again and again. Every time I try something "quick and dirty," I end up worse off than I started.

As for foods, I could make a long list, but I'm trying to balance it all out.

    Hang in there!

I have wanted a "fast" weight loss for so long, but my thyroid condition gets in the way of that. It's taken a while for me to be satisfied with slower progress toward my goal.

Stay healthy, eat what you can, find alternatives to your old favorites, but most of all, don't stress or think negative thoughts when you're losing slower than you would like. Look at this as a chance to discover new favorite foods that are low in Vitamin K.

Hi Darling . So glad you had another chat to your doc .. and she was able to clarify your condition .. There have been leaps and bounds in medication and treatment in the last few years so please do not worry that what happened to you father will happen to you it is highly unlikely.. Most men wait until it is too late to go for treatment ..
You are seeing your doctor quite often and she will keep a check on you ..
I hope you will feel better soon my love .. Love always Susie and Bobby emoticon

Sounds like Coumadin? There are plenty of "diet" foods not mentioned in your list. But it would make it easier for you if you put your list into alphabetical order.

I agree with you - better to avoid the foods than to take extra blood thinner.

I noticed that proteins weren't on your list. Some people do well with a higher protein diet. Notice I said Higher protein, not Atkins. I feel better when I am eating a higher protein diet. Lean proteins don't really have all that many calories, so enjoy a chicken breast!

Starting today with a smile...cause you said to emoticon

It's good that you have the option to try to control some of it with your diet rather than medications. That sounds like a good idea!

Karen, it is good to hear your doctor took the time to further explain things to you. I've not heard of this before, but I agree as well, I would rather find a way to alter my diet than take more meds then I had to.
Hugs and prayers that this all gets sorted out soon! emoticon

I am glad the doctor cleared up a few things for you. I am with you though on not eating the foods instead of taking more medication. Thoughts and prayers coming your way to help you through this transition. emoticon
